actually, it was his new team that forced him to withdraw because of his elbow operation last year. 

 

they want him to be at the Spring training rather than playing competitive matches at WBC. 

 

p.s. I like him, I'm a true fan of plastic man

Also no Nick Vespi for Italy as well. 

 

Doesn't surprise me that the pirates would do something like this despite their team not being competitive. Their owner doesn't have a heart. 

 

Not surprised about Correa. His health has been a talking point all off-season. 

 

Dominican starting rotation also starting to be a concern as Luis Castillo, Wandy Peralta, and Luis Severino all didn't get permission to play and now it doesn't look like Framber Valdez will play either.

 

 Taiwan will also be without one of their best pitchers, Chang Yi, due to shoulder inflammation.

not really surprised...

 

I think most people ready to begin the season in the USA don't want to spend a while thousends miles away to play the WBC.

 

if we were playing in a US-based group, most likely we would have a much more competitive team.

 

still, I hope to be able to watch some good, exciting baseball instead of that thing named Spring Training.

And also, the Mets have a lot of players participating, so it wouldn't surprise me if someone got in his ear and told him it would be smarter if he was in camp with them.  Not that he's playing for a job or anything like that now that he has his contract
