We obviously have massive differences of opinion on what qualifies as "major"

If we're using that broad a definition, we're already well above two per decade

Not sure, its part of policy

"

  • Government of Canada support, in accordance with the Hosting Program budget and/or necessary approvals, for the hosting of:
    • Two (2) International Major Multisport Games every ten (10) years;"

Seems like their definition of "major multisport games" is more or less in line with mine.. but I guess if host an Olympics/Pan-Am's you also get the Para's as well, so it's basically a 2-in-1. Would make it a bit more reasonable. We overshot in the 2010's, and will miss in the 2020's

Its possible they consider the University Games as well. Speaking of which I know U sports wants a winter games in Canada, with a dearth of hosts, I suspect one sooner rather than later.

The COC was also looking at the 2032 Winter Youth Olympics, but unsure where that lies right now.

I was more just listing international multi-sports games Canada could potentially host.

I think defining a "major" multi-sports games is tricky, because even the less known ones still require a fair bit of logistics. Of course, that isn't to say there aren't ones seen as more popular or prestigious by the general public (or more knowledgeable fans).
