the Mongolian hero Mollaei lost in the first round :d

ironically Matthias Casse won the gold medal. the person our Mongolian hero "claimed" he can beat anyday and his defeat in WCh to him was intentional. (which is obviously a lie but everyone bought it)

well, I saw that match...

he lost against our very talented (but still immature) guy, Christian Parlati, who actually quite dominated the fight, even if as usual he took too many risks and almost threw the victory away once he got ahead by a waza-ari...

luckily, his mistake only cost him also a single waza-ari and so he finally could make up for that by throwing Mollaei on his side once again for the second waza-ari (awasete ippon)...

here's the match Parlati vs Mollaei...

World Masters (Qingdao, CHN)

Day #2 Recap

today's main news are Saeid Mollaei's debut as a :MGL Mongolian representative (more about that in the previous post) and the shame of both men's Gold Medal matches that actually didn't took place at all, with the eventual winners just getting a nice Santa Claus gift...:bones::thumbdown:

:JPN Japan obviously continued their domination, winning 2 out of 4 awarded Gold Medals thanks to Soichi Hashimoto (men's -73kg) and Nami Nabekura (women's -63kg), finally taking her major honour at the Masters after 2 consecutive losses in the big final in a row in 2017 and 2018...and doing it against the reigning world champion, :FRA Clarisse Agbegnenou...

then, today's remaining Gold Medals went to :BEL Belgium (Matthias Casse, men's -81kg) and the :NED Netherlands (Kim Polling, women's -70kg...defeating Sanne Van Dijke in an all-Dutch affair final)...

no need to say that because of these results, :JPN Japan strenghten their lead in the medal table with 4 Golds, meanwhile now the Nations with "only" 1 Gold medal won are 5: :BEL:NED:ITA:KOS:PRK

What's with two finals not being held? :yikes:

official version: slight injury sustained during the previous match...

most likely: those who didn't show up in the final matches were already happy with their result and the points scored in the OQR and, feeling tired, didn't want to risk a real injury/a bad loss, so they took the silver with joy and came back home...

to my memory, it's the first time that 2 gold medal matches are not contested in one single session...and tbh, it's a real shame...

p.s. today we have 2 Dutch fighters in the Gold Medal matches: Michael Korrel vs Aaron Wolf in the men's +100kg and Tessie Savelkouls in the women's +78kg (and there's also Henk Grol facing David Moura for the bronze medal in the men's +100kg)...

live right now on Youtube

World Masters (Qingdao, CHN)

Day #3 Recap

Final day of action in the 2019 Judo season with the :NED Netherlands main protagonists...

in fact, they won 2 out of the last 5 titles to be awarded this year, thanks to Michael Korrel (men's -100kg) and Tessie Savelkouls (women's +78kg)...

:JPN Japan, after dominating the fiorst couple of days, today only had to be satisfied with a single Gold Medal, won by Hisayoshi Harasawa in the men's +100kg class (which, once again, was a "no show" by the losing finalist, :CZE Lukas Krpalek :wall::hairpull::thumbdown:)...

the last 2 Gold Medals, instead, went to :FRA France (Fanny Estelle Posvitè, women's -78kg) and :GEO Georgia (Lasha Bekauri, men's -90kg)...

thanks to these results, :JPN Japan won the medal table with 5 Gold Medals, followed by the :NED Netherlands with 3...

after the 2 most successful Nations, other 6 Countries ended their campaign with 1 Gold medal each: :BEL:FRA:GEO:ITA:KOS:PRK
