Tomorrow also start the 2022 Taiwan Series, with game #1 of the best-of-7 series between the Rakuten Monkeys and the CTBC Brothers.

game #1 is scheduled for 5.05 p.m. local time (10.05 a.m.) in Taoyuan (home of the Monkeys, who have the home field advantage and will play at home games 1, 2 and, if necessary, 5, 6 and 7, according to the unusual rules of that League).

:KOR KBO 2022 Korean Series

game #4SSG Landers Incheon Kiwoom Heroes Seoul  3-6 (series tied 2-2)

the Landers took an early, illusive lead already in the first inning, but then the home team had a great reaction and first they tied the game in the second stint thanks to 3 bunts (1 misplayed by the Landers' first baseman), a very unusual way to manufacture a run nowadays.

in the 3rd inning the Heroes closed the game, scoring 5 runs through a series of hits that forced the Landers' starter (Shawn Morimando) to leave the game too early.

finally, despite the good job of the relievers, who didn't give up anything to the Heroes' bats, the guests could only score 2 more runs in the 7th inning.

too little and too late.

so, the series is now tied at 2 apiece and the teams head back to Incheon, where all the remaining matches will be played.

here's Today's match boxscore:

game #5 is scheduled for Monday, November 7th in Incheon @ 6.30 p.m. local time (10.30 a.m. CET).

:KOR KBO 2022 Korean Series

game #4Kiwoom Heroes Seoul SSG Landers Incheon  4-5 (SSG Landers lead the series 3-2)

the Heroes were off a flashy start and as soon as after the second inning were already up 3-0, thanks to a total of 4 hits and 2 base on balls given up by the Landers' starter Kim Kwang-Hyun.

the team from Seoul then added another run in the top of the 6th.

at that point, everything looked done and dusted...but...never trust Korean relievers...:finger:

the combo setup man + closer of the Heroes, in fact, did the damage in the bottom of the 8th (2-run shot given up by Kim Jae-Woong to the 3rd baseman of the Landers, Choi Jeong) and in the bottom of the 9th, when the closer Choi Won-Tae did blow the save and lost the match thanks to a 3-run walk-off Home Run hit by the Landers' pinch hitter Kim Kang-Min.

now the Heroes have the shoulders against the wall, as the Landers lead the series 3-2 and tomorrow could clinch the series at home.

here's Today's match boxscore:

game #6 is scheduled for Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 8th in Incheon @ 6.30 p.m. local time (10.30 a.m. CET).

:KOR KBO 2022 Korean Series

the SSG Landers Incheon are the 2022 Korean Series Champions! :cheer: :champion:

game #6Kiwoom Heroes Seoul SSG Landers Incheon  3-4 (SSG Landers win the series 4-2)

after 2 disastrous seasons when they couldn't even reach the playoffs, the team formerly known as the Wyverns is back on top of Korean Professional Baseball.

in game #6, after a couple of quiet innings, the Heroes started the dance with a 2-run stint initiated by a leadoff single followed by a 2-run HR hit by Im Ji-Yeol.

however, the Landers immediately answered in the bottom of the 3rd, helped also by a capital mistake of the opposing pitcher and 1st baseman.

then the action got quiet once again until the 6th inning, when the match (and the whole series) got decided.

in the top of the 6th the Heroes took a 3-2 lead thanks to a solo HR hit by Lee Jung-Ho, but they just couldn't keep the lead, as the Landers turned the score around in the bottom part of the same inning, scoring 2 runs thanks to 2 more errors by the Kiwoom's infielders and a double to left center gap hit by Kim Sung-Jun.

there was quite some baseball left, but actually it was already all over, as today the Landers' relievers shut the Heroes down completely and managed to close the game and the whole Championship with no further runs scored.

the game ended therefore with a score of 4-3 for the home team and, finally, it was time to celebrate in Incheon.

With American Football now finished, the attention gets turned to baseball season. Early Sunday morning the Samsung Lions (KBO) played their first Spring Training match against the Chunichi Dragons (NPB). It didnʻt go all that well for the Lions as they lost 1-18.:(

KBO preseason finished up today and MLB Spring Training will do the same later this evening.

One match to keep an eye on, an exhibition between the Houston Astros and Double-A affiliate Sugar Land Space Cowboys. Only for the names.

Opening Day Thursday!

Opening Day Thursday!

yep! we're almost ready to go!

on Thursday, we have the NPB season opener (Rakuten Eagles @ Nippon Ham Fighters at the new ES CON Field near Sapporo, 6.30 p.m. local time, 10.30 a.m. CET, 4.30 a.m. New York time) and a few hours later, it's MLB time! :cheer:

our TV (sky Italia) is showing...guess what? SF Giants @ NY Yankees at 7 p.m. CET and also (that's a big effort for them ) the first game of the Houston Astros at night (CET).

personally, after they increased so much the subs fee (and they didn't show the WBC), I decided to give up for a while MLB.tv, waiting for the week following Mother's Day 50% discount (if they do it again, like in the past 2 seasons).

ready to go with the free games only (+ sky Italia's) and wait until further up to Father's Day...they won't get the full price, that full price, from me anymore :finger:

p.s. KBO and CPBL will start "only" next Saturday, April 1st (is it a joke? )

Here in the US, with DirecTV, we get one free week of MLB Extra Innings (the package where you can watch out-of-market games) at the beginning of the season.

I like it because I can listen to other commentators (my desired career) but also to see corny car dealership commercials from across the country.

  • 2 weeks later...

Fun stuff from Double-A ball. Rocket City Trash Pandas (that's their name) threw a no-hitter against Chattanooga and lost 7-5.

Five walks, four hit by pitches, a wild pitch, and a two-run error that would have been the third out, put Chattanooga ahead 7-3 in the final inning.
