WKF Karate Senior World Championships

The 24th Karate World Championships are Karate's biggest event.

Held every two years, the Karate Senior World Championships gather athletes from over a hundred countries in a thrilling quest to sports greatness.

The tournament will take place at the WiZink Center sports hall in Madrid (Spain).

The competition acquires even greater importance since the Spanish capital will host the last World Championships to be held before Karate's debut at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

The 24th World Championships will be the competition providing the highest number of points for athletes to qualify for the Olympic Games.

The appeal of this spectacular sport is showcased in its three modalities: the action and speed of Kumite, the power and spirit of Kata, and the courage and resilience of Para-Karate.

Repubblica will stream in Italy?:yikes:

actually, it's PMG sport (Repubblica is only one of the media with a link to them), as always...;)

the nice Chiara Soldi will have to carry a lot work, I guess...

by the way, they also post their broadcast on youtube, so you can get it ondemand, too (even if when you look for it ondemand on YT it's impossible to avoid spoilers about the Italian athletes, as they also post the videos of their single matches with a spoling title)...

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.
