Great championship for Serbia. So far 3 have chance for medal + Nemeš still has chance for bronze.

Fris is doing a match with interesting fighter from China, he shoud be favorite. Mikhail will face Bulgarian guy so at least a repechage is guaranteed. I hope that Nemeš will get an opportunity to fight for a bronze medal. Great performance so far.

I don't really follow it outside of the sport so I don't know who are the nice guys and who are the assholes :d Just every time I watch a fight of Sadulaev he throws his opponent around like it's a 50kg junior or just pushes him down like he did with Snyder

I can't even begin to imagine the raw power that guy has.

They are both nice guys. but American wrestling journalists talked alot about that match, (not really Snyder himself) and made Sadullaev extra motivated about that. beside that, that defeat in Paris was the first "official" defeat of his career. and while Russian coaches wanted him to try 92kg (which fits more his natural bodyweight) he wanted to go 97kg and took his revenge against Snyder.

PS: I know most of you guys here think that only Olympic weight classes matter but I'm telling you those guys in wrestling community don't think like that. they will start thinking about the Olympics from next year because of the Olympic qualification process but this year ? no it doesn't matter. a World title is a world title.

well next time UWW can just sends medals instead of wasting money having a competition. beside that so-called "draw" so many matches today just decided by a caution. that was funny they made Kayalp losing to Heiki Lucky by a caution in last minute (not that Kayalp deserved the win but Nabi didn't deserve it too) , they did the same with Kim Hyeoon-woo made him losing to Tamas Lorincz.

but I was impressed by the American guy Adam Coon. yeah he had a very easy draw but still winning 4 matches in a row by fall in super heavyweight is something like a miracle ! he will most probably  lose the final to Semenov but still. another surprise was Milov of Bulgaria. checked his resume, nothing special until today. again he had a very easy draw but still he wrestled very well.

Aleksanyan had a brutal draw, he narrowly escaped the Georgian guy of Italy, he was down 6-0 against Norway but somehow found a way to score 10 ! again in QF he had hard time against Nadereishvili still won it 4-3 but poor guy lost it to Evloev in the semifinal. this time a well deserved win for Evloev. as World and Olympic champion he didn't deserve such a brutal draw. of course he was probably tired against Evloev (who was great today) but this is FILA/UWW. justice is the last thing they care about. they claim next year the seeding will be better and this year it was a joke only because of new bodyweight classes. we will see.

Do you know if there are any news on serious efforts to get Women's GR into the World Championships programme (let alone even Olympics)?

well there is no women's GR exists as far as I know.

I remember during that IOC session deciding about wrestling's fate, (when IOC dropped wrestling first and made it compete with Squash and few other sports for the last spot) they asked the UWW officials about this and the female representative of UWW said so far women don't show interest in Greco-Roman globally.

    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
    • The worst editions in XXI century for us were Vancouver: 5 medals (only 1 gold for Razzoli's on the penultimate day) and Sochi: 8 medals (but no gold). Turin was already a prelude to this bad period, although the number of gold medals was ok. Overall we won fewer medals at home than in 2002 and this was probably the only case in the 21st century when the host country won fewer medals at home than 4 years earlier, either in summer or winter. In general the years 2008-2016 were very bad in our sport, both in summer and winter. Only 2018 in Korea was a slight rebuild + 2 fantastic summer editions in Tokyo and Paris. in Beijing 2022 we won a lot of medals - 17 but only 2 gold (If it weren't for Gogga's injury, I think it would have been 4 gold).
    • Totallympics had  users at one point, but I haven't seen any hanging around in a while.
    • In terms of total medals, yes. In terms of golds, I’d be fine with anywhere from 6-8.   @intoronto you don’t think we’ll do better or at least the same? Bit surprising.
    • Tadeucci was very good and took bronze
    • On the Olympics I don't like to count golds to analyse the performance, I think the best data are the top8 and medals. In both fields I expect a big improvement (obviously not on the 'pure' number, but on the percentage of medal or top8 events)
