Time for Event #3 in our IMAGINARY SUMMER OLYMPICS series.

These are olympic champions in certain event.

Imagine that all these champions are on the top of their game at the very same moment in time.

Who would have won gold?

Be aware that the voting ends at Wednesday March 2nd, 8 p.m. CET.

Imaginary olympics take place In Poland, obviously.

That means rather flat cross terrain, maybe some small hills, climate like typical Middle Europe summer, not very hot, maybe it rains.

We don't necessarily choose the best ones, the world record holders. These pollls are like event start lists, who would win, what you think?

@dcro any tips for that one?

@dcro Maybe it’s too early to discuss it but if there is a tie for a third place in this poll, who would you choose? 😏

Mark Todd and Charisma have grown a cult status during their career together so I have to go with them. From the surprise win in Los Angeles, to a repeat in Seoul by which time they became invincible, essentially.

Charisma was a tiny horse, which helped their cult status to grow.

yes, I agree, also for me the no. 1 is Mark Todd and Charisma, obviously

But who would you place as no. 2 and no. 3?

Jung would be second imo. The vintage Jung from 2010-2016, that is, not his imposter with mediocre results since 2017. :p

As for the third, Pahud de Mortanges is with Todd and Jung the only other rider who have won consecutive Olympics on the same horse. Hugely impressive since the wins came in Amsterdam and Los Angeles, and getting to LA back then was a bit of a challenge to say the least.

Or maybe Julia Krajewski? The first woman to win the title (several came really close before her though, most notably Karen Stives in 1984, Bettina Hoy in 2004 and Sara Algotsson in 2012)

Then there is David O'Connor, the last champion of the long format. Richard Meade is a name everyone is familiar with too. Guyon and Coffin won events in 1968/1976, which were perhaps the toughest ever.

I don't follow enough the Equestrian Sports to give a qualified opinion on this poll...:dunno:

so, I only voted for Mark Todd because it's the name I read/heard more about in the very few occasions I watched Eventing competitions (Olympics and WEG only, basically)...

    • Well, I see that the national competition between mixed doubles and also men increased. Also actually amongst women, too. Before it was mostly Kubeskova team that participated in some international events. This year, Synackova team did really well in the pre-qualification just the final qualification was not that good. But curling is about details. Generally, I am glad to see that there is really much higher competition than it was 10 years ago. And seeing Chabickovsky a Zelingerova making it to the Olympics in such a young age can be really promising for their career as curling is becoming more professional, as we see Grand Slams and other big tournaments.    As for now, I think that in Milano Team Klima and mixed doubles can make really interesting results. After all, they will finish in top 10 so just qualifying to the Games is already a huge achievement

    • Please do not bring this idea to Sindo
    • Tahli/Dean    Probably just as disappointed as the Australians on here are
    • Gotta feel for  defending world bronze medalists, but couldn't make it to the Olympics
    • with a steal of 3 in the 8th end,  can't make the last shot to stay alive.
    • Oh yea.  Seemed like they were starting to get some less than elite pitchers, but the commits they've had in the last 12 hours have been stellar.  Now the staff feels like an embarrassment of riches.  They have 3 elite starters and a bunch of guys that can eat innings.  Thrilled what Mark DeRosa has been able to put together.
    • It looks like you guys will be juuuuust fine.   Tarik Skubal, Logan Webb, Joe Ryan and Nolan McLean all committed within the last couple of days.
    • Yay for no disqualifications! Thanks @OlympicIRL for all the work! Getting close.
