ExpandAustralia have already confirmed that De Minaur and Kyrgios will be at Tokyo
I believe they did. But with Nick, you never know ??
Well, I am still also expecting some kind of a dick move from Kyrgios ??
Male tennis is really beyond all world's fans' imagination. Today confirmed that Stanislas Wawrinka won't be going due to knee surgery and a new withdrawal by
Milos Raonic. .... I don't know if you guys watch the tracker on wiki how is it all.moving down the ranking but there are still some players marked as "going" but already confirmed withdrawal. As far as I know
Jiří Veselý is not going and I am wondering whether
Miomir Kecmanovic hasn't withdrawn.....
Popyrin and Thompson are also not going, so as
Kevin Anderson ....
Imagine there are 64 spots and at least 46 players from top 100 are not going (just counted). And this number does not include Verdasco and
Anderson who were placed as No. 101 and 102.
I mean, golf is limited as there is a huge number of players from same strong countries ranked high, that's why we can see qualified even.players from position over 300. Tennis is a different story and I absolutely did not expect any players from below No.100 to be qualified..... The OG tournament loses great players but lower ranked players have a great opportunity to shine,?
Quali is over. Followed by Thiem's withdrawal, there was 1 Lucky Loser from quali. Based on which information Lucky Losers are decided? I thought it is based on world ranking. But quali seed No.1 Majchrzak lost the quali final but was not LL. Instead goes to the mail draw Van Den Zanechulp. Based on which info it has been decided that it's gonna be him?
Just checked some resources. Not sure whether it was already here but also following tennis players seem to be out: Lloyd Harris
Kyle Edmund
Kaia Kanepi
Anybody has updates on decision of Gael Mofils and
David Goffin? Heard that Goffin was considering the withdrawal ......
ExpandWTA drama continues as Marketa Vondrousova uses her PR (protected ranking) to secure the Tokyo ticket at the expense of in-form Karolina Muchova.
Vondrousova has done nothing since 2019 so this one stings for sure.
Yeah, it is a big topic in Czech right now. Many ppl critisize it. This may have some after play I am afraid ....
Just waiting when finally next player will get his quota place from 145th place in the world ranking ???
More withdrawals....
Richard Gasquet
Denis Shapovalov
Adrian Mannarino

Monfils refused to go to Tokyo as I read. Or wrong information?
ExpandFilip Polášek confirmed his participation in Tokyo Doubles event.
And he chose as teammate for the M Doubles the young Lukáš Klein
256th ATP single and 257th ATP double player, Junior Australian Open 2016 Doubles winner, This year Doubles winner in Cherbourg challenger and finalist in Zadar.
However it has still a IF... since he has no Davis Cup participation, but our federation already asked ITF for a exception, because he didn't play the davis cup not because he didn't want to but because he was never nominated
, so he basically never refused to participate in Davis Cup, he just didn't get the chance.
what do you think ? Is this possible ? or we will be forced to change the player ?
In my opinion, ITF will refuse. I have seen how strict they are regarding this Davis Cup participation. It is not about refusing or not getting a chance in my opinion. I wish it to young Klein very much. But I am afraid of ITF's reaction. It kinda surprises me that he did not choose Zelenay.....
Gael Monfils is also not going to participate the Olympics .....
David Goffin is currently also considering the withdrawal. Currently we have 6 tennis players who already withdrew from the Olympics ....
ExpandWe hoped and believed in a 45+ athletes delegation, which would have helped us to send also coaches and more support staff members to the athletes. But sadly, we missed quite a lot of qualifications by just a few, so it does not look any possible to qualify even 40 athletes, so only the most necessary support team will be allowed to travel with the athletes. This is things and problems we are going to face, many big countries does not even know about..
Right now we have 31. Well, what can we do, we are in the wrong continent
Yeah, well, many sports have cut a lot the total number of qualified athletes in recent years. That is also the reason. We were also hoping for more. Currently we have 70 spots and hoping for about 100. But it will be tough to reach this number. Depends whether basketball team makes the cut in the qualifier in Canada. Let's hope. Couple more weeks to go.
ExpandThanks mate.
Yes as it stand now, we have officially 2 quotas for the M Doubles (Polášek + 1), Our NOC nor Tennis federation has not been contacted yet for Gomboš M Singles continental quota reallocation, so I am not counting it yet, but I think it will change soon once our NOC will receive a mail with his invitation.
Would be definitely great to participate in both Mens events, it started to look pretty bad and honnestly was not expecting any quota in Tennis, so it may at the end be much better thanks all the withdrawals and reallocations.
However, we have to keep in mind that The quotas are still not officillay confiremd by Filip Polášek himself
so until he will not say that he is really going to Tokyo nothing is certain at all.
If he will accept it he can select one of these players
Well, the qualification period in all sports is finishing. We will be seeing many changes and reallocations probably every day. I am really happy for every and
who qualify. I always for both counties the same. Will be nice to see some Slovak tennis players. As you know, Olympic tournament is always unpredictable. So let's see??

Accroding to wiki, so many guys skipped the olympics and Gombos could play singles, too.
Sure ,I know. That is what I meant. Gombos will surely play singles. As I guess there will be more withdrawals, he won't miss the singles tournament. As for doubles, I guess as @hckošicesaid, Polášek will most likely choose Igor Zelenay ?
ExpandYes, Polášek has been updated today. As I wrote there our NOC and Tennis federation received today the official invitation and information in which was written that he has to choose a partner for the Doubles event. (Any SVK player in the top 300 of M Singles or Doubles ranking from 14th June)
But still not official confirmation from him personally if he will actually accept it and play in Tokyo
Yep, bro. Congrats a lot!!! Polášek and Gombos in :-) Just feel a bit pity you have no female qualified. Polášek is good in mixed doubles, too. I believe they would have their chances :-)
Expandwhat about the doubles?
The wiki source is "accurate" I mean they made it according to the singles ranking and added high ranked double partners who play together. All NOCs will be offered singles and doubles quotas. Some NOC will be able to choose amongst several players and also for doubles if someone is choosen, should be able to choose a partner who is ranked no worse than 300. The list of tennis players will still take some time to establish as NOCs will be confirming or declining based on world ranking from June 14th.
Guys, is there any live tracker for tennis qualified quota? Could not find anything. Thanks

I think all the lists may be adjusted until July 5th, maybe even later. If Schmiedlova does not reject the quota, I think SOC won't either.....
