ExpandMLB teams are boycotting their games tonight.
I’m so proud of all these athletes. They will face major push back for all of these boycotts, but they are doing the right thing.
I am fine with players standing up to social injustice, but I think playing the game would mean more. Maybe have a cool ceremony/moment of silence before the game. I don’t think boycotting is the right way to go here.
ExpandTigers RHP Casey Mize is making his MLB debut in a matter of moments
Excellent performance by our #1 draft pick from 2018. He goes out in the 5th inning (about 70 pitches). He gave up 3 runs including 1 solo HR. He started to come unraveled in the 5th, but was in command for the first 4 innings. He also recorded 7 strikeouts. Good stuff from Mize

ExpandHottest debate in American sports today: the unwritten rules of baseball.
I have no problem with what Tatis did. You don’t want him to hit a grand slam on a 3-0 count? Throw a better pitch or don’t throw 3 straight balls. You might only get one good pitch per at bat and you have to make the most of it. That is what Tatis did.
ExpandI’m guessing there’s no active minor leagues going on, are there?
No, the minor league players are not actively playing/practicing with their teams. I have a feeling that they would rather suspend the season than have Marlins minor league players play.

yes, he was born there while his parents were serving as missionaries...
the whole family moved back to the USA only when he was 3 years young...
therefore, because he was born in the Philippines, he could easily get the local citizenship and play for them in the international sport events...
Did not know that.
Philippines??? Really??
ExpandOlympic baseball gets a huge talent-pool boost
Players on 40-man rosters not in the major leagues will be eligible for the Olympics. That's a big boost for the sport since originally anyone on a 40-man roster would not be allowed to participate in Tokyo.
YESSSS!!! Would have loved if MLB players could play, but we don’t live in a perfect world. We can see some very talented prospects at the games along with pros from the Korean & Japanese leagues. It is huge for the development of young players.
ExpandHot take: Man, Astros fans are so far gone right now. They keep playing the victim card (notably like Russian fans), and it’s so annoying. Your team was harassing women reporters, then stealing other teams signs, and then held a press conference talking about the cheating wasn’t bad “since it didn’t effect the game”. If it were up to me, the Astros ought to be banned from playing next year. I’m so tired of these Astros fans complaining about unfair treatment.
If I were the commissioner, I would have them banned from the postseason for 2-3 years, similar to Man City’s punishment.
I understand. It’s not the most exciting sport. As a baseball fan, it tells me that spring is coming.
College baseball has officially started!!! Right now the rematch of last years College World Series Final is on. Vanderbilt is winning over Michigan 1-0 in the 3rd inning. Game is on MLB network.

I'm shocked how bad Cuba has been on offense
