  1. WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Relegation Round - Match 2 Czech Republic - Switzerland 2-3 After OT Serie Standing 1-1 Meier keeps Swiss alive OT slapper saves the day, beat Czechs, 3-2 Defenceman Christine Meier fired a high shot over the shoulder of Klara Peslarova to give Switzerland a 3-2 win over the Czech Republic at 4:26 of overtime. "I saw a bit of an opening, but I just wanted to get the puck on goal," Meier said. "Our forwards were getting tired, so I just wanted to shoot. It went in, so I'm pretty happy about that." The win means the teams will play a third and deciding game in the relegation round tomorrow afternoon. "We showed a lot of character today," Swiss coach Daniela Diaz noted. "We worked for every bit of space on the ice and wanted it more, I think. I'm very proud of the team." "This was do-or-die, so we wanted to play as a team and support each other, fight for every puck," Meier added. "And the luck was on our side, which was nice." "I think we played well," offered Tereza Vanisova, who scored both Czech goals. "We were stronger on the puck, but we didn't score. It's that simple." The Czechs were the more determined team and harder on the puck, indeed, but the first period was scoreless. The best chance of the first 20 minutes came when an Alina Muller shot squeaked by Peslarova, but Samantha Kolowratova was behnd her to swep the puck out of harm's way. The Czechs scored first, at 8:39 of the second, thanks to a giveaway in the Swiss end. Aneta Ledlova stole the puck and made a quick pass to Vanisova. Her shot beat Florence Schelling over the glove. The Czechs continued to dominate in many respects, but Switzerland tied the game off the rush. Phoebe Staenz tore down the right wing on a two-on-one and fed a pass to linemate Nicole Bullo, who made a slick deke and tucked the puck in the open side. Lara Stalder then gave the Swiss a lead with only 13.2 seconds left in the period. She collected the puck behind her own net and skated freely down the right side. Her sharp-angle shot trickled between Peslarova's pads, a shot the goalie would surely love to have back. But the Czechs proved resilient. They tied the game early in the third on a simialr rush down the right wing. Vanisova, however, cut in on goal and Sandra Thalmann couldn't check her before Vanisova put the puck past Schelling. The goal, at 3:55, tied the game, 2-2 and set the stage for a dramatic finish in 4-on-4 overtime. "We weren't worried," Diaz added of the tying goal. "We were working hard and we knew we could still win. And now we have to get ready for tomorrow."

  4. oh, trust me, you can we are far far far away to be some unbeatable gods, it´s really the opposite we are perfectly beatable..and not only SVK. the ice hockey level between the first 2 divisions became extremely balanced during last years, you can see it during last years WCH tournaments, and you´ll see it next month. the results are more and more close, many matches end by overtime. It´s definitely not the hockey we knew before Yes, well I´m not a absolute expert in womens hockey, but yes, on paper China vs Slovakia should be the game for promotion, but again ..on paper we speak about womens hockeyt so it should be perfectly also the game for relegation Italy, Latvia and Kazakhstan all showed some good quality during the olympic qualification so we definitely don´t have to underestimate them. I really don´t know. it looks to be a very balanced and exciting tournament. we´ll see. Anyway good luck to our teams btw the livestreams will be here
  5. and what a win it was a total one-sided match. bravo Orlovi but Spain they are now in real danger

  7. I wouldn´t see it so black, Hockey has in Poland quite interesting history, and since couple of last years clearly there signs of improvement in your hockey compared to last 1-2 decades. Also Polands Champion received a spot for the Champions League, this is really valuable assessment for your hockey, for example a country like Latvia did not received any spot. Your NT has now a group of solid players, I was pleasantly surprised by the very high level of your play, You missed the promotion only by few. I think you have very good chances for good results in these 2 matches. we send a team composed of young talents from our championship, many of them will debut in the "National Team" level. So I will be not surprised at all to see 2 POL wins this weekend. For the womens, it´s hard, the level change too much year by year, Our team definitely can not flop deeper as it is right now...few years ago it was unthinkable to see Slovak team in Division IB, but thanks to our womens current hockey it´s a reality...and since they lost yesterday in Hungary 1-4 in their last test game...everything is possible even a total debacle in Katowice...but on paper yes..we can say that Poland is probably the lowest seeded team of this division...but you saw what did Germany in top division this year..promoted team without any real chances to win a single match did some magic and play today the semifinals...so everything is possible in nowadays ice hockey, especially in womens category

  10. And here we go Today start the official test preparations for the worlds. We will play tonight and Saturday 2 matches in Aalborg and Odense against Denmark. Gonna be interesting to see how many players from this first camp stage will go to the worlds. We are not expecting many NHLers this year, since some stars like Tatár, Gáborík, Daňo and couple of others already refused the invitation for this years wolds because of injuries, fatigue or ends of contract with their club so maybe only 4-5 will come before the tournament... and even if there still some interesting prospects still playing playoffs in different european leagues, there really a very decent chance that a solid amount of players from this team will play at worlds next month. team for first this weeks training camp and matches against Slovak training camps before the World Championships Week 1: Denmark - Slovakia (6. april in Odense and 8. april in Aalborg), Week 2: Slovakia - Switzerland (13. april in Trenčín and 15. april in Žilina), Week 3: Slovakia - Finland (19. april in Košice and 21. april in Bratislava), Week 4: Norway - Slovakia (28. and 29. april in Hamar) after the last match scheduled for Saturday the coaching staff will announce the final 25 list roster and the team will travel next Monday to Cologne for the world championships

  12. we´ll see, it starts in 1 hour well, probably you´re right, maybe also the 3x3 basketball, and we should find some few other relatively new sports too. but ice hockey is still very dynamic and highly exciting sport even for the new followers...at least I think so

  21. They do everything to stop our medals remove 50 km race walk and canoe slalom C2 both our golds in Rio also it´s almost sure the canoe sprint K4-1000m will be cut of the program and replaced by K4-500. I really can´t...all our medals chances are quickly disappearing...at least there this trap mixed thing and it looks like the mens canoe slalom C1 is still safe so we should win at least 2 medals
