  1. OCA has them listed as separate sports, so I think that’s just someone with poor PDF creation skills It’s an OCA multi-sports games, so that’s actually one of the more normal things listed on that document
  2. Sports/Events Program for the 2021 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games: https://www.sat.or.th/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Event.pdf It’s weird collection of sports and events as always. There’s some weird omissions of events, which leads me to believe Thailand has designed a program that favors them (not unlike Turkmenistan did). You can find the logo, proposed schedule, and venue plan on this website: https://www.sat.or.th/bkk-cbi2021/
  3. Yes, that’s less than ideal for most people. I wouldn’t just write the event off though. The men’s road race at the 2018 Asian Games only had 58 entries (with a max of 4 riders per team), and that is still one of the most entertaining races I’ve watched.
  4. Yeah, pretty similar situation in the US. NBC actually showed some Sailing on some of their channels during Rio 2016 though.
  5. The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) adopted a number of provisional measures against the National Olympic Committee of Belarus today. The measures stem from an investigation process opened on November 25, after concerns were raised from various groups that the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus was engaging in discrimination against athletes for political reasons. After reviewing the allegations received, and the responses provided by the NOC of Belarus; the IOC came to the conclusion that the current NOC leadership had not appropriately protected Belarusian athletes from political discrimination within the NOC, their member sports federations, or the broader sports movement. According to the IOC, this conduct is contrary to the fundamental principles of the Olympic Charter, and has a serious affects on the reputation of the Olympic Movement. Building on that conclusion, the IOC Executive Board decided to level the following provisional measures against the NOC of Belarus until further notice: 1. Exclude the currently elected members of the Executive Board of the NOC of Belarus from all IOC events and activities, including the Olympic Games. This includes in particular Mr Alexander Lukashenko, in his capacity as NOC President and legal representative of the NOC; Mr Viktor Lukashenko, in his capacity as NOC First Vice-President and the person responsible for the NOC’s operations and activities on a daily basis; and Mr Dmitry Baskov, in his capacity as an NOC Executive Board member and in view of the specific allegations raised against him. 2. Suspend all financial payments to the NOC of Belarus, with the exception of payments related to the preparations of the Belarusian athletes for, and their participation in, the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. All Olympic scholarships for Belarusian athletes will now be paid directly to the athletes, and no longer through the NOC. 3. Request the relevant International Federations to make sure that all eligible Belarusian athletes can take part in qualification events for the upcoming Olympic Games without any political discrimination. 4. Suspend any discussions with the NOC of Belarus regarding the hosting of future IOC events. 5. Request all constituents of the Olympic Movement to respect these measures in the interest of protecting Belarusian athletes’ rights and the reputation of the Olympic Movement. The IOC Executive Board vowed to continue to monitor the situation and reserved the right to consider any further measures or sanctions, or to remove any of the provisional measures depending on the evolution of the situation.
  6. The idea included having 24/7 streaming from cameras on each ship if I remember. There would be constant live tracking as well. The most interesting part of the proposal is that they’d take that live tracking, put it on a video game platform, add in the current weather info, and let fans race the crews virtually in live time (not for medals of course, but for fun). It’s actually a real cool idea in my opinion, and something that could grow interest.
  7. Basically their entire NOC EB (including Lukashenko) is banned from the Olympic Games. Belarus is not allowed to bid for and host IOC events. Funding for their NOC has been cut, the IOC will make direct payments to athletes.
  8. Depends on what the core sports program looks like then. Are Weightlifting and Boxing still on the program? If not, what has replaced them?
  9. Their plans originally included Baseball/Softball. They even had venues picked out at one point. So there’s still a fair chance it’s get in 2028.
  10. London 1948 also didn’t have 32 sports, a quota allocation system, and 206 NOCs.
  11. Sports Climbing gets 2 events per gender and 34 quotas per gender My guess is 16 in Speed, 18 in Combined Lead & Boulder
  12. BMX Freestyle has received a rare quota interest to 12. Mountain Bike down to 36 from 38 I believe.
  13. Open Water events reduced to 22 athletes
  14. Program of events: https://stillmedab.olympic.org/media/Document Library/OlympicOrg/News/2020/12/Paris-2024-Event-Programme.pdf#_ga=2.246138884.1023938805.1607343051-1163586561.1607343051
  15. That would have increased Shooting events, and they were against any increase in the number of events.
  16. Sounds like Bach supports Belarus being stripped of hosting rights. He didn’t state it explicitly, but the IOC’s actions definitely imply that.
  17. They accepted some of the Sailing changes as well.
  18. Offshore Sailing is still being considered for inclusion.
  19. Totallympics Media will publish the press releases as soon as possible.
