  1. Edward Prentice 2/20 hits, 41:30 minutes behind. Picked up the wrong sport, perhaps.
  2. India and Pakistan totally losing the plot in this sport, sad.
  3. Then you could also say World Aquatics should try and limit the US' success in swimming, by that logic. Swimming is very accessible to the world, as is cross-country skiing in the winter programme, comparing it to the sledding events, for example. So Norway's success isn't their fault. If anything, other nations are getting less interested in it and nordic combined, thanks to the popularity of biathlon. Take Lampic for example, with her results in shooting, she'd be better off in cc-skiing.
  4. Women's only: 1. 6-6-3 2. 6-4-0 3. 6-3-8 4. 6-2-4 Men's only: 1. 14-5-8 2. 4-7-1 3. 4-3-6 Mixed only: 1. 3-0-1 2. 2-2-0 3. 2-0-0
  5. Memorable moments are plenty but my favourite might be Botn's perfect race in the individual. It meant a lot to him and he dedicated it all to Sivert Guttorm Bakken. Also, Eileen Gu looked like she enjoyed all her performances and just being there.
  6. Of all the pictures you posted from the victory ceremonies, this is the pic of the games for me. The faces on the Swedish and Norwegian team. I still can't get over these expressions. lol
  7. Whenever the next final takes place on 22nd February, as that was the day when the "Miracle on Ice" happened in 1980.
  8. That's it. The 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics have come to a close! We have seen incredible performances each day, with ups, downs and all sorts of emotions. After two weeks, how do you rate these games? Average after Day 4 - 6,38 Average after Day 8 - 6,18 Average after Day 12 - 6,63 This poll will be open for a week as there's more time to reflect on them now.
  9. I can already see the criticism of adding too many events by some people.
  10. Here's my personal programme, for now: Alpine skiing (11) - reinstating the individual alpine combined and the separate gender team combined becomes a mixed team combined; - mixed team combined: 1 man downhill, 1 woman downhill, 1 man slalom, 1 woman slalom Biathlon (12) - add single mixed relay - change the pursuit (unfair to base it on a previous sprint result), instead have a super sprint first round (interval) and a super sprint pursuit with the best qualifiers from the first round Bobsleigh (2-4) - unsure, don't like monobob for just one gender, so maybe a 4-woman instead OR just one event for each gender - maximum of 2 sleds per NOC Cross-country skiing (12) - 50km in interval starts - team sprint modus like in the qualifying round, instead of multiple interval legs Curling (3) no changes Figure skating (5) no changes Freestyle skiing (14-16) - remove mixed team aerials - maybe add team big air or team halfpipe Ice hockey (2) no changes Luge (5) no additions; athletes limited to 2 per NOC in singles and 1 per NOC in doubles Nordic combined (5-6) - add women's - one Gundersen event and one mass start (where skiing comes first) per gender - 4x5km or 2x5km + 2x7,5km mixed team OR a team event for both genders Short-track speed skating (9) no changes; unsure about adding 3000m Skeleton (3) no additions; 1 team per NOC in the team event Ski jumping (6) - proper team event for men instead of "super team" - maybe have a women's team instead of mixed team Ski mountaineering (5) - 2x vertical race, 2x individual, 1x mixed team sprint (remove individual sprints) Snowboarding (13-15) - add freeride - maybe add big air or halfpipe team Speed skating (14-16) no changes; maybe add team sprints New sports: Bandy (2) - men's/women's tournament Cross-country running (3) - men's, women's, team; MUST be contested on snow Cyclo-cross (3) - men's, women's and team; MUST be contested on snow Ski Orienteering (5) - 2x sprint, 2x long distance, 1x mixed team TOTAL: 124-133
  11. Share your own vision of the 2030 Winter Olympics programme here. This is purely your own decision, so whether you shorten or extend the programme is entirely up to your preferences. What would you do?
  12. Unexpected, that means my prediction of two countries sharing all 12 medals was wrong. That's why I never play the lottery.
  13. I can picture the Dutch to pick up more interest bobsleigh and skeleton, as you're more into ice rather than snow. Winterberg as a training ground wouldn't be far away.
  14. Maybe we'll even see freeride in 2030 with French support.
  15. In response to the speed skating thread (it would be off-topic in there), I think Italy's biggest misfortune was the men's biathlon. Giacomel was in shape just before the games. It goes to show that Olympics at home are a double-edged sword. It can boost performances thanks to the atmosphere and familiarity with venues, but there's also immense pressure on delivering. In the end, both balance each other out. The Dutch team made most of their opportunities. It didn't exactly look good on the men's side in speed skating but that event made the difference today.
  16. So if Bach was "Mr. 1976 Olympic Champion in Fencing", Coventry is going down as "Mrs. I was not aware".
  17. Oh I have no doubts, but there is some work to do, mainly in alpine skiiing and freestyle skiing. Cross-country is looking good right now.
  18. Men and mass start tactics. Well done, and !
  19. Red is not among my favourite colours but the Canadian outfits are a really vibrant and nice shade of red.
  20. The French team wins the battle with Norway in terms of golds and total medals. This will be France's front sport in 2030 and there are a lot of young athletes coming as well.
  21. We could say the same about non-European anglophone countries who want snowboard parallel slalom gone, not caring about that discipline. Thankfully, Bulgaria and Korea won medals there, so it should be safe.
  22. China risking too much here, gift event that has been added for the US.
  23. At the 1928 Olympics, Argentina finished 4th and 5th in the Five-man event. Could have had a bronze if they didn't mess up the second run. I wonder how it could have shaped Argentina's position in winter sports, had they won that medal.
  24. Just as I like it. I'll be fair, the two best made the final.
