    No doubt. Both Hamar and Heerenveen would be insanely awesome venues for Olympic speed skating, apart from outdoor venues I can't think of any better location for any major competition (so many speed skating venues just feel....dead), but for an Olympics in France? That's just too many countries away.

    It's 1,5 year until the Olympics, surely by now they are supposed to know where things are being held? I assume the bobsleigh track has been long finished by now, or did they decide to wait until the last moment with finishing the track, so they can throw away 'easy' medals?

    I think that was my mistake for mixing the Vuelta in, that's what I thought of when I saw 'gold' Sorry. Although I do still firmly believe things like crowns and slams aren't really much of a thing in cycling. Winning all three Grand Tours in a year would be, but winning two out of three plus a championship (or two) just kind of seems like an "almost complete thing" (much as it would be immensely impressive, obviously!)

    Maar ja, dat zou wel volledig los moeten staan van de verwachtingen voor nu. Verhoudingen en kansen verschuiven gedurende de jaren nou eenmaal, volgens mij kan men moeilijk stellen dat het met Nederland achteruit is gegaan in het roeien

    Day -2 and HBO/Eurosport already seems to be using one of those generic commentators for the rugby (the woman, in this case) "What I love so much about the Olympics, is the stories of resilience of these athletes." Ok, sure....but the stories are the same in their regular circuit events (whether that's World Cups, World Series or some league or another), just not nearly as many people care

    Right, the way the commentator said it ("everyone's thoughts is with this man") suggested something sad had happened or something like that. Good that's not the case

    There was a particular Frenchman on screen, not sure who, and the commentator said "this man is in everyone's thoughts here". Any idea why?

    It's more unfair that tennis can have 64 singles players when other events with a similar knock-out format can't even have a third of that
