  1. So Muguruza is the first semi-finalist. Very interesting developments in the women's field, great to see some new names reaching high levels instead of always and ever the same few names. I'm guessing Serena will keep messing everyone around for a while, but it'd be nice to see how it goes when she's gone. At least it's more interesting than the men with usually the same names
  2. USA: Angelica Delgado (52) Marti Malloy (57) Kayla Harrison (78) Nick Delpopolo (73) Travis Stevens (81) Colton Brown (90) http://www.teamusa.org/News/2016/June/01/Meet-The-2016-US-Olympic-Judo-Team
  3. Konrad Niedzwiedzki was hit by an agricultural vehicle last weekend during a training ride near Groningen (NED). He suffered 7 broken ribs, a punctured lung and a couple more injuries, but is expected to be able to join his team when they have a training camp in Inzell in July http://www.omropfryslan.nl/nieuws/640494-poolse-schaatser-met-fiets-aangereden-door-landbouwvoertuig
  4. It's women's tennis, every random thing can happen with every random player at any random moment
  5. What's happening with Dutch sports? Now all of a sudden we have a woman in the quarter finals of a Grand Slam
  6. You have no idea how much I love this idea! We do the same thing on the Dutch forum (the one where I got the idea for the "supporting small nations" thread) and it's always a lot of fun, especially because it gets people interested in sports they'd otherwise never follow So yeah, I'm absolutely in and I'll do my best to come up with some questions as well
  7. Agreed about the lights so they can keep playing for longer If they have it around enough courts, it'll actually make a significant difference, unlike one or two roofs.
  8. I hope they postpone it even longer, there's no reason to add it. Just like at Wimbledon, all it does 95% of the time is making sure we can see a crappy match between a top-5 player and someone who has no chance against him/her. It would only help when we've reached the finals, but yesterday and today it wouldn't have made any serious difference.
  9. Then you can play 7-8 matches, 10 if you're lucky, during the entire day Really, that's not going to help in any significant way considering there are full tournaments in men's singles, men's doubles, women's singles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, boys doubles, boys singles, girls doubles, girls singles, wheelchair men's singles, wheelchair men's doubles, wheelchair women's singles, wheelchair women's doubles
  10. One roof? Then what? Or do you mean a roof over all 15-20 courts? Because that'd be the only thing to actually make a significant difference.
  11. Robin Haase being Robin Haase He was playing Gonzalo Lama, who was making noise like an overacting combination of Sharapova and Larcher de Brito. Haase was probably a little sick of that and decided it'd be a good idea to give a shout as well The result: one point awarded to Lama Oh Robin, why? https://streamable.com/1fe1
  12. They don't really have criteria for the road race, it's just up to the coach who he selects
  13. Why would they give a prize to someone who has no reason to be in the Olympic road race instead of giving the spot to someone who actually has a reason to be there?
  14. Dutch men's road team: Steven Kruijswijk Wout Poels Tom Dumoulin Bauke Mollema Seriously, what on earth is Kruijswijk doing there? Such a typical move, "Kruijswijk had a great Giro, let's select him for the Olympics", which is a 10000% different kind of race...Robert Gesink should have been there in his place without any doubt.

  16. Lisa Top (NED) has sustained a bad knee injury and is out of the Olympics
  17. Weightlifters, who would have guessed 5 gold medalists is big though, this might even give Russia one or more new gold medals (2012 --> 0 gold medals, 5 silver medals)
  18. They have to pay insurance to the Spurs or otherwise they won't let him go or something like that?
  19. Great focus on his face, I can see a potential medal winner there!
  20. Lenchu Kuenzang it is, according to local media. She is definitely going for a medal in Rio. "I'm aiming for a medal this time", is what she said after all. She has already been training since April and shoots a hundred rounds per day besides her job as officer in the Royal Bhutanese Police. If this isn't the recipe for gold yet, hold on to your hats because there's more to come: Lenchu is getting in all kinds of positions for one hour every morning during her yoga session, while every evening she spends an hour in the gym Her coach has said her performances are getting very close to the top level athletes in the world and who is he to lie about that? Get your money ready and place your bets, because Lenchu is Kuenzang is coming for the gold
  21. No need for that now is there I wish we even had a chance in this sport, but our NOC didn't even bother to make some standards because nobody would ever get close enough
  22. Understandably Don't worry, they will
