  1. One would hope sponsors won't touch him at least for another few years after he comes back, but you never know, there's time indeed.
  2. has two spots in the time trial? I thought every country had only one, good for her then Well, regular successes don't have much to do with the drama I think, since that's more part of the regular commercial team stuff. Cycling isn't that much a sport where national teams build everything. Quite sure Tokyo would have ended differently if they were 'normal' people though
  3. Depending on the course, to be fair. On courses with long climbs, yeah. On short, punchy stuff: Kopecky. On flatter courses: Wiebes by far. I am hoping for a Vos miracle....I'm just very, very uninterested in seeing a Vollering gold medal At least looking towards the future it is good Van der Breggen and Van Vleuten have retired and there's some new blood coming with Markus and Van Anrooij, among others. Maybe the whole nonsense can stop with them (especially if Vos remains eternally active to cool things down).
  4. women's team: Demi Vollering, Marianne Vos, Lorena Wiebes and Ellen van Dijk (who will be the time trial rider). Especially Vollering is always a crucial part of the troubles in Dutch women's cycling, leading for example to Anna Kiesenhofer's gold in Tokyo. Wiebes ain't gonna be a team player neither, at least Van Dijk has said her main focus is the time trial and in the road race she's ready to just work. Hopefully it'll go Vos' way, the only one who never ever got involved in all those bullshit shenanigans. Honestly I'd have left Vollering home for Riejanne Markus or Shirin van Anrooij (or leave Van Dijk home as well).
  5. He has been doing high diving for nearly 10 years at least (2015, 2019 world champion)
  6. Letsrun really needs to check their sources He may have been injured, no idea, but he's on the team for the European championships in Rome. https://www.atletiek.nl/artikelen/atletiekunie-vaardigt-59-teamnl-atleten-af-voor-ek-atletiek-in-rome/
  7. I guess we'll have to wait for UCI to make any announcement. The Olympic ranking on their website isn't updated yet, so who knows
  8. On Wikipedia they are apparently using the regular ranking? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cycling_at_the_2024_Summer_Olympics_–_Qualification#Mountain_biking
  9. Always fun when a mistake like that is made but someone then goes and loses their shit (like this Christian Llitjos guy apparently) about it
  10. Quite a bit of crashes this year, including one that took out three drivers in the very first turn of the race unfortunately. Nice comeback drive from Rinus van Kalmthout going from last, after a penalty due to a pitlane error, to 9th, while Kyle Kirkwood had a similar alternative strategy putting him in the fight for the top spots as well. Some mistakes for rookie Kyle Larson, but overall quite a decent debut, although he did miss the Coca Cola 600 due to the delay. Much needed win for Newgarden as well, after a rough start to the championship.
  11. Tim Merlier wins the last stage ahead of Jonathan Milan, who had a flat at 8k before the finish and then was brought back to the peloton by some of the most blatant drafting behind a car ever DQ might not be out of the question.
  12. Grayson Murray, golf, 30 years old.
  13. Two time PGA Tour event winner Grayson Murray retired from the Charles Schwab Challenge on Friday, citing health issues. Saturday morning he died, 30 years old... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grayson_Murray
  14. Giro, Tour & Vuelta
  15. But everyone raced twice the same day, surely someone who is among the very best in the world should be capable of spending his energy sort of evenly to make it through to the next round in these early stages...(for which the likes of Ntouskos of course don't need 100%, given their quality) At least for his sake I hope it was a matter of being sick (only a little of course, so he'll be better within days ), otherwise it would be a little worrying.
  16. He was definitely lucky with that though, since it wasn't a matter of bad luck, but a bad mistake by Thomas...the classic 'look behind and dont notice the guy in front of you changing direction'.
  17. Go to the ICC to protest against the ICC being threatened? Right, that sounds like it makes sense.
  18. Awesome story I doubt I'll have met him, I've only ever been to IBU Cups (Obertilliach x2, Arber x2, Martell, Lenzerheide), there aren't a ton of people there to start talking to suddenly (other than some athletes @brunamoura interacted with)
  19. A Totallympics user having met more than one other user in real life wouldn't be a first, actually I know there's at least one user here who has even met 3 other users
  20. Caught up with yesterday's judo, there was some guy holding a 'We are Fethi Nourine' tshirt to 'celebrate' Kotsoiev's win Dude didn't come for the judo
  21. This would suggest two men and two women both would be on their way to qualifying, so far? Of course depending on the Dutch NOC, they do need a top-8 in one event in a list of events that I can't find, so....yeah
  22. I have and I indeed have still not forgotten it. Yugh.
