  1. (writen before the Sinner case) https://honestsport.substack.com/p/italys-clostebol-doping-crisis-across?sort=top
  2. Eden Park has always been (also) a cricket ground. They kept cricket in mind when they refurbished it for the 2011 RWC. It's hardly comparable with regular rectangle stadiums around the world. And there are not many cities who would have a somewhat decent athletic stadium on top of their olympic stadium. There are no way around it. Having cricket in the olympic program would be a major issue for many of the possible future hosts.
  3. Wouah Trinidad, St-Kitts AND St-Lucia ? Amazing !
  4. So on, indeed. Basically, everything except of team sports, road cycling, tennis, golf and once every two years athletics and swimming is dead as far as general audience is concerned. That's why, I think it's very weird to argue about the comparative mass appeal of different olympic sports. It really doesn't matter.
  5. France was represented at the last WC (and even win some matches). AFAIK, we have one active club in the whole country. It's crazy how every minimum global standard for olympic inclusion have been throw out of the window under Bach regime and its additional sports program...
  6. The “fundamental principle” is not only a principle on paper it's what make the winter games fundamentally distinctive and what it makes that the event works. If you cut it, you'll end up with a selection of random sports that are simply not good enough for the summer olympics. In other words, it's called the World Games. Everyone is included, but no one care.
  7. My fear is that every sports/disciplines not on the program will see it as a way in, and we end up with the World Games + Ski&Ice
  8. Apparently, World Athletics is pushing (again) for Cross Country to be included at the Winter Olympics (in french) https://stadion-actu.fr/le-cross-country-aux-jeux-olympiques-dhiver-en-2030/
  9. Doest it matter ? Should it ? I mean, the vast majority of olympic events are shit TV products anyway that no one watch outside of the Olympics.
  10. If anything, that's more the other way around
  11. Doesn't make it less unknown by the general public. I'g guess that 99.9999% of the french population wouldn't know that we had been world champion in flag football.
  12. Actually, the event exists and made its debut during the last PanAm Games. Can't find much of comments on how it went.
  13. Our first World Championsip post Paris then. Time to go back to work and study what the rules of this sport are
  14. I think that exactly what Bach had in minds when he came up with idea of additional sports for Tokyo . At least, Rogge managed to keep in check the sports program.
  15. Yes, that would be great... I don't really understand the need for secrecy neither. IIRC, 17 'disciplines' (in IOC jargon) were proposed for LA, but i was never revealed which ones.
  16. For some reason, they didn't for Paris https://swimswam.com/fina-reportedly-not-proposing-adding-stroke-50s-for-paris-2024/
  17. World Aquatics is pushing (again) to enter the 50m strokes to the program I wonder what other events other federations are currently lobbying for
