  1. Good that it is finally over. Really looking forward to Paris and Cortina!
  2. 4-0, no more Slovak nightmares to be expected. Congrats @hckošice! I guess the first Olympic medal for SVK in a team sport?
  3. After all, I think nearly all the athletes that had to go into quarantine in Beijing were not able to be competitive in his/her event. Riiber, Ilves, Frenzel, Seegert... did I missed someone?
  4. No, he was recently released from his 2 weeks incarceration after a positive Covid test prior to the Opening Ceremony.
  5. Any responsible federation who cares more about the athlete than a possible gold medal would have taken the poor girl out of the Olympics after the positive test. Media will always cannibalize drama, especially when it comes to Olympic Women's Figure Skating. In order to save her from that plus the high pressure she was under, a withdrawal would have been the only way to go. I cannot believe that anybody does not seek the exclusive responsibility for that shit show anywhere else but at her coaches and her federation. I hope she mentally recovers and comes back soon.
  6. The vast amount of media attention. Both Neuner and Dahlmeier were hyped to the max since their early World Cup days. And yes, this is really a question especially the media should be asked (ofc, they don't )
  7. 2nd doping case in Beijing: Valentina Kaminska (Ukraine, Cross Country) has been tested positive for doping during the Olympics. (according to German media)
  8. No Riiber in the Norwegian team tomorrow. I feel totally sorry for him. Eric Frenzel is back from his incarceration quarantine and replaces Rydzek in the German team.
  9. Like in the Ski Jumping team event, China mysteriously and all of a sudden has a full team at the start.
  10. unbelievable!!! Had to watch it with 5 min delay as I was in a video call.... Now the screams of surprise and joy also came with a 5min delay
  11. and the next 4th place. This day sucks.
  12. Sensational race by Fillon Maillet! Hope Hofer somehow gets a medal.. but mmhmm
  13. Give them the four-women event or eliminate the second Women's event. I think monobob what used to be a training sled for youth athletes is a disgrace for bobsleigh in general and specifically for the female athletes. (I know an elimination won't happen..)
  14. With the exception of Humphries the first 2 heats were not a good advertisement for Monobob. Especially Nolte and Meyers-Taylor with two more or less horrible runs and still 3rd and 4th.
  15. Amazing for Neise. Most people might say, just Germany again, but this is MAJOR surprise. Her only victories on senior level so far were 1 win in ICC and 1 win in EC. She struggled to fulfill the internal German standard (3 times TOP 8 in WC) and finally reached it at St. Moritz (8th rank) with her last possible chance. Then got Covid just 1 week before the Opening Ceremony. Btw amazing result for AUS and NED, those two countries together at the podium looks more like swimming or something ;-)
  16. yes, because this one was not very likely prior to the Games. Also CC is one of my favorite Winter sports and a German medal here is always very special. Katha Hennig is a really great athlete and she totally deserves an Olympic medal (all others of course too)
  17. Absolutely. The Luge medal table does not reflect the season adequately. The team relay shows that the Austrians are very close to the best Germans in all events. E.g. Ludwig won because he were 0.05 sec quicker in every run than Kindl. Btw Nathalie Geisenberger is now the most successful German Winter Olympic athlete in terms of Gold medals (6-0-1) right before Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt (6-0-0), all three surpassing Claudia Pechstein (5-2-2).
  18. Mixed sprint break dance relay coming
  19. True. I doubt he'll ever improve in Jumping. But Buzzi and Bortolas do now look so bad, that should be two for 2026. I forgot about Fontana and Retornaz (maybe missed somebody else) who could also compete in 2026.
  20. Thanks! Still a rather exclusive list
  21. You forgot "Doctor of Law" in the list of distinctions for His Highness (also honorary doctor in corruption and hypocrisy, of course)
  22. If Alessandro Pittin continues his career until Milano 2026, he will have competed at two home Olympic Games. I wonder if he would then become the first Winter Olympic athletes to do so? There might be some Austrians competing at both 1964 and 1976, but I'm not sure. In Summer Olympics there are of course some Americans that competed in both LA and Atlanta, Carl Lewis and Jackie Joyner-Kersee just to name a few.
  23. Have a nice tournament! What the football World Cup means to me, must be the Olympic Ice Hockey tournament for you
