  2. KHL Conference Finals Western Conference: earlier today, CSKA Moscow confirmed their superiority over SKA St.Petersburg by winning 3-1 also the second game of the series, which now they lead 2-0... the guests once again never seemed capable of putting any kind of pressure over CSKA...and when Kirill Kaprizov gave them the lead in the first period, it was clear that also this game and the whole series are clearly heading in the Russian capital's direction... all the other goals of today's game looked just "cosmetic", as they never influenced the momentum nor the outcome of the match... game #3 is scheduled for next Monday in St.Petersburg (7.30 p.m. local, 6.30 p.m. CET)...well'see if the home crowd can push SKA beyond their current (very visible) limits and give them a boost for the rest of the series... Game #2 highlights Eastern Conference: yesterday also the Eastern Final started in Balshikha... and Avangard Omsk took advantage of the "home" ice and of a stupid penalty taken by Ufa's Artyom Sergeyev early in the OT to win the first game of the series by a score of 4-3 (Sergei Shumakov scoring the game winner @ 64.03 in power play)... but it's not been easy for the home team, that had to comeback from a 2-3 deficit in the 3rd period and had to fight the entire game against a very determined and inspired opposing team... now they lead 1-0 in the series and tomorrow they have the chance to play also the second game at "home" in Balashikha (5 p.m. local, 4 p.m. CET)... Game #1 highlights

  10. so, at the end of the first session of the finals we have Turkey on top of the medal table with twice Gold, followed by 5 other Nations with 1 Gold medal each... most entertaining final, surely the women's -55kg... meanwhile the most "titled" match of modern karate (the men's -75kg final between Busà and Aghayev), as expected, was a great tactical struggle, with both athletes respecting and fearing each other too much to put on a spectacular show...in the end, it was Busà to take advantage of the only chance of the bout and winning the 5th European Gold medal of his amazing career...

  18. it was quite interesting to watch today's games, which were played with the new rules... I'm not a fan of those, but I have to admit that they are going to bring quite a new flavour to the game...and in the longer period, they will change a lot of things in the tactical aspects of the sport and in the physical training, as it's clear that you need to be less powerful but a lot quicker and resistent in swimming...and have a quicker recovery phase (as there are less timeouts and the interval between periods is shorter)... the negative point, probably this would lead to a more aggressive use of doping practice also in this sport, as the swimming skills will definitely be more demanding...
  19. because there's nothing really "new" in today's world... after something like that, someone else instead didn't have so many problems... do you remember this?
  20. women's Team Kumite Gold Medal Match: Ukraine vs Turkey Bronze Medal Match #1: Spain vs Germany Bronze Medal Match #2: Italy vs Croatia
  21. CSKA Moscow won game #1 of the KHL Western Conference Finals... after Dinar Khafizullin opened the scoring for the guests from St.Petersburg, Alexander Popov quickly restored the tie, still in the first period... It was then Mikhail Grigorenko at 7.55 of the 2nd period to score the game winner... after that, it was mainly a defensive struggle by CSKA and some not so effective pressure by SKA, so the score didn't change anymore and CSKA Moscow took the 2-1 win home, which means that now they lead the best-of-7 series 1-0... game #1 highlights game #2 is scheduled for tomorrow at 5 p.m. local time, once again in Moscow (3 p.m. CET) meanwhile today at 7.30 p.m. local time (5.30 p.m. CET) in Balashikha, Avangard Omsk host Salavat Yulaev Ufa in game #1 of the Eastern Conference finals... for those who want to watch the game online (paid official streaming, not for free): https://video.khl.ru/events/877389?locale=en those who have a satellite dish pointed at 7 and/or 10 degrees East, instead, will be able to find a service feed for the Russian TV for free (no encryption, crystal clear HD) later today, normally starting 30 mins before the first puck drop of the hockey game...

  24. basically, he's saying that if they let him do whatever he wants (giving 14/15 gold medals away to Russia and ask for money to other Nations to get the minor medals), he's gonna pay - with other people's money - AIBA's enormous debt... I'm still asking myself if he's just an idiot or if he's really so arrogant to really believe in what he's doing... p.s. however, after reading that the chairman of the IOC enquiry over Boxing is UWW's president himself, mr. Nenad Lalovic, I have no doubt that AIBA will stay in charge of any boxing operation now and in the next future, especially if under Russian control (ask our friend @MHSN for any reference about UWW and their people's regular administration of both the sport and the business questions)...
