  1. Got a link for the bracket/schedule?
  2. They wouldn't make it at current pace
  3. The TV here has "Rio Games (Live)" listed during the hours of the ranking sessions. I wonder if they plan to broadcast it.
  4. Yep. The tickets are sold because of the host but very few bother to arrive for the relatively unattractive game played at some ungodly hour.
  5. Tbf, I'd stay home too if the alternative was Iraq vs Denmark during lunch hours.
  6. So, some clarification on Ecuador Chocho has the official title of flagbearer since he's considered the country's #1 but he's in Spain and won't reach Rio till Monday. Preciado received the flag as the country's #2 but he has competition early on Saturday so now it seems like Estefania Garcia will carry the flag even if Chocho is officially the flagbearer (and I thought we had a mess in Colombia). The decision is not definitive yet.
  7. Almost the worst possible draw for Colombia lol. The #1 seeds in men's doubles and the #2 seed in women's singles
  8. Due to security reasons the IOC now won't allow Jossimar Calvo to leave during the ceremony so it's been decided that Yuri Alvear (Judo 70k) will be the flagbearer tomorrow EDIT: We now reach a streak of 5 female flagbearers in a row (6 if we include the winter games) and no male flagbearers this century/millenium.
  9. True, but I get the impression that only karate and baseball were included to please the Japanese and the others are there because the IOC thinks they will appeal to youngsters, giving them a strong chance to sneak their way into "core-ness" or at least get a push to be at the 2024 games.
  10. So far it's only Japan. Los Angeles would be better than fine with this. France has Biarritz, Italy would also be fine. Hungary would need to use another country tho (which Agenda 2020 allows). But I think most non-landlocked countries would be fine. There's always the option of artificial waves but not sure if the expense is worth it.
  11. It'd be like sailing. Moscow 1980 had it in Tallin, Seul 1988 had in Busan, 1996 was in Savannah, 2008 was in Qindao, 2012 was in Dorset and a bunch of other examples.
  12. I was expecting the loss but not by this much. Oh well.
  13. Nah, most Brazilians I know thought they deserved it and actually rooted for Germany in the final. They'd take another drubbing as long as the Argentinians don't win a title on their soil.
  14. I'm pretty sure Peruvians are thrilled with surfing's inclusion. Even if they lack a medal contender the sport is pretty popular over there.
  15. Check the IFSC's Youtube channel. They have World Cups and World Championships uploaded and live stream most of them. It's very entertaining, tbh. (I'm aware you'll probably need to wait until August 22nd tho lol)
  16. Expected. And Agenda 2020 was supossed to make the games tighter and smaller LOL
  17. Wow, the old skeletons are going at it LOL. Raising fair critisms, tbh.
  18. LOL. Exactly. I'd add surfing and climbing but sadly, I agree we're getting all 5.
  19. They are recommending all baseball leagues to stop for all 17 days. LOL. Never gonna happen.
  20. I agree. But I think it'll come down to money (travel and insurance) and how the Classic does next year.
