Dutch World Champions Bekkering/Duetz didn't have a great start either. They already collected a lot of points. Third world title in a row is not very likely anymore. At the men's side Bos/van Vugt still fighting for an Olympic place. NOC decided they have to finish top 6 at least. After this first day they are 4th!

Well, hopefully Netherlands and Italy will be in the same poule, so they won't play against each other in the deciding match. A shame that South Africa plays at the Olympics. Probably they lose 4 times with 50 goals difference.

Yes they have. Ten countries will participate: we already know six of them. China, South Africa and two out of will complete the field.

Italy plays at home and will have the FINA (and referees) on their side again, like 8 years ago, when Netherlands were robbed in playoff-match against Italy. Also in Triëst. Don't worry. Even if the Dutch team reaches the final against Hungary, they will things completely screw up. Dutch teams and finals ... not a good combination. Semifinals will probably be - and - .

Well, Russia will be eliminated in the first round for sure. They are very weak at the moment and were very lucky with the grouping for the OQT.

Germany really deserved the win today against our girls. Very disappointed though. Volleyball is my favourite sport, unfortunately no Dutch team to cheer for in Tokyo. Good luck Germany in the final!

Have fun Jinzha! I was there wednesday, when played against . You have to cheer loudly, because half of the audience is only clapping their hands when the speaker says to do so. Very annoying to be among fake supporters. It will be hard for Netherlands to grab that last Olympic ticket. All other semifinalists proved to be very strong.

Poland played very impressive! For me they are now the biggest favourites to win this. Too much power and a wonderful setter. But, don't count out Turkey.

Unbelievable France turns the match around. Didn't expect that at all. Winner of Germany-Bulgaria seems the favourite for me tomorrow.

Slovenia destroyes the French team. Didn't really expect that. 2:0 now. Will be a rematch Germany-Slovenia in the final.

Sloetjes won't be back in time, today she didn't play at all, because she was sick. But Meijners on her position was pretty good today! 3:0 against Tomorrow the big clash against Poland!
