  1. Videaux will also not make Vault finals. Only Moreno and the three Canadian girls left. This guarantees Chusovitina on Vault finals! At 41, she is probably the oldest Olympic finalist in Women's Artistic Gymnastics ever!
  2. The scores on Vault will be huge, so the hiccups on Beam will probably not make much of a difference.
  3. Miyakawa had a mistake and she has no chance to make the event finals now. But with Moreno, Olsen and Videaux on the way, Karmakar is in big trouble now.
  4. Such ridiculous overscores now. This is really unfair to the girls who competed at the first subdivision. The US is not this good. They are the best, no doubt about it, but these scores are just plain wrong. Total BS.
  5. This would probably make 6 out of 6 gold medals for the US girls. Crazy.
  6. Excellent news!!! I'm so happy for her! This means world champion Yilin is out. Wow!
  7. I'm surprised wild card entree Isabella Amado from Panama is currently ahead of 10 gymnasts who qualified on their own, including one from South Korea, a country which had a full team at this year's Test Event.
  8. That's true. Biles will place ahead of her, and I'm confident Olsen will also place ahead too provided she doesn't fall. There's a chance Moreno will not place ahead of Dipa. Dipa's score is too high and Moreno needs to be perfect to beat this score.
  9. Rebeca Andrade is currently first in the All-Around, Flávia is first on the Balance Beam and we are just 0.010 behind Great Britain as a team. This is one of the best days of my life. I must be dreaming!
  10. Yes! Two Germans will move to the UB finals! Funny thing is that we'll probably have two German, two American, two Russian and two Chinese girls on UB final. Only four countries.
  11. Dipa Karmakar is currently sixth on vault with Moreno, Biles, E. Downie and Olsen still to go. She might not make the event finals. She did everything she could, though. Very nice work from Dipa.
  12. If Schafer hits her routine with no major balance checks, she will make the finals. The British girls only scored 14.5 or lower, and Schafer can beat this score with a hit routine. I know nothing about Alt, so it's surprising to know she has big D scores. I'm eager to see her performances now. Also, do you know what happened to Janine Bieger? She was robbed of a medal in 2012 and after that I didn't hear much about her.
  13. Flávia Saraiva is currently first on the Balance Beam, 15.133. I'm not sure when was the last time I got this happy in my life. I'm in heaven!
  14. I'm not sure what to expect from them on Beam, though they might surprise. I expect two scores around 15 on Floor, though. Miyakawa and Murakami are amazing on floor.
  15. Yes, I edited my post some seconds before your reply to add Ellie and Olsen. What an excellent group of athletes still to come. I'm so excited! Probably the greatest Olympic games when it comes to Women's Artistic Gymnastics this century has seen so far.
  16. Melnikova went from best Russian all-arounder through the year to third best all of a sudden. What a HUGE score for Mustafina! This is unbelievable. Anything over 9.0 in execution is just crazy. And what a surprise to see no Russian will probably make Beam finals! Yilmaz from Turkey is hanging on in third right now, and she will need some luck with the Wevers sisters from the Netherlands, all of the US girls, Schaffer from Germany, Boyer from France, Black and Olsen from Canada, and Flávia Saraiva from Brazil still to come, but she definitely has a clear chance to make it to the finals. Fingers crossed.
  17. Yay for Zambia! Here's hoping for a medal!
  18. Tutya Yilmaz from Turkey scored 14.5 on the Balance Beam and will probably make it to the finals! What a huge, huge, huge surprise! Way to go!
  19. About men's qualifications: It was very exciting to see some unexpected performances! I didn't expect much from the United States, but they were great while some of the favorites got way behind really fast. The most surprising thing was, of course, Uchimura not qualifying in first to the all-around final. But we all knew Veriayev could make it to the top if he had a good day. Besides, Uchimura clearly underperformed, but I would not be too shocked now if he somehow loses the gold medal in the all-around this time. Larduet was a huge disappointment, but he still made it to a couple important finals. Getting a medal in any of the finals will be a lot harder than I originally thought, though. I'm glad Tomás González made it to vault finals, even though Sasaki missed the cut. Vault finals will be unpredictable, and aside from Ri and Ablyazin being early favorites for gold and silver, literally anyone could snatch a medal. Floor finals will also be exciting, and High Bar should provide some excitement as well. The other finals will be slightly boring, with only 4 or 5 gymnasts with a real chance of getting a medal. The all-around competition will probably be my favorite event at the Olympics, since many great gymnasts made the cut despite some bad performances here and there. Kudos to Georgiou from Cyprus for making the cut. After being eliminated from two finals at the Youth Olympic Games (unfair when it comes to a personal point of view, but according to the rules), he made it to the finals at the big event. It's really heartwarming to see he was rewarded. Also, I wish a speedy recovery to Samir Ait Said from France. It was so scary to see his broken shin bone hanging on from his leg, but he took it like it was nothing. What a brave man. He deserved to be on the Rings final, and it's really unfair that he injured himself after qualifying.
  20. Sad. She also decided not to start on the uneven bars. I hope she performs on beam and floor so her Olympic experience will not be a completely wasted one. She deserves better.
  21. Archery and cycling have never been popular in Brazil and everybody knew that way before the Olympics were awarded to Rio. It might be somewhat surprising to some people that the swimming finals were not too crowded, but with no Brazilians with a chance to get a medal at the pool yesterday, it was not really a huge shock. And with all due respect, but do people really expect that a football match where, say, Fiji plays gets crowded in Brazil? I can't see how on Earth this would be possible, unless the whole population of Fiji decided to come watch the matches (and I still suspect there would be some empty seats nevertheless ). In the end, I think Rio will not see as many empty seats as in Athens, but we will see.
  22. 2015 Team Final - Japan 270.818, Brazil 259.5772016 Olympic Qualification - Japan 269.294, Brazil 268.078 Brazil did a great job.
  23. Netherlands finished the team competition ahead of last year's world championships finalists South Korea. What a great surprise! Congratulations!
