Mektić/Škugor are in doubles semifinal. Wow, that's crazy. They will face Pavić/Marach there, so we are guaranteed to have a finalist in men's doubles.

Easy first set for Muller. His service game is immensely impressive.
  4. Wow. Perhaps you were pointing out how DXC Technology is the secret of his success.
  5. So apparently the other name of Canada's CSC is DXC Technology. I checked their FB page and saw that they are the sponsors of Team Penske IndyCar team. Team Penske have won the latest IndyCar race of 2017 (held last weekend). They also have a 2nd place from this year's Indy 500. This all can't be a coincidence.
  6. That's actually an IP address of Canada's Computer Sciences Corporation in Montreal. It's a start. https://db-ip.com/all/20.90.53
  7. Sometimes secrets have to remain secret.
  8. Yeah, it's funny how there are people protesting the decision and yet no city is doing that.
  9. Idea has been in the open since last year. It goes without saying that everyone who opposes it can step forward (and still could, actually, but nobody did)... They have discussed it publicly numerous times. Norway pulled out from 2022 bidding late in the process, even though they were huge favorites. It would have been stupid to let that happen again because obviously hosting Olympics is not very popular at this point. As Dragon said, after 2024/28 the door could open for some very new host, especially if Paris/LA (both cities very capable of doing it right) bring back the faith in hosting.
  10. This idea has been going around for months though. If someone was really doing some serious work about bidding they would have stepped out, or an IOC member from that nation would have said something today. Unfair would be having this decision made behind close doors, in a heat of the moment.
  11. Looks like these championships will have a huge empty stadium as a background.
  12. Here's something, though a lot of them seemed to be a pure speculation. Like Australia who denied any possibility later on. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2028_Summer_Olympics&oldid=783206058
  13. How can hurricane or tsunami force IOC to award games prematurely? That has nothing to do about this, exceptional circumstance is about current climate in Olympic movement. As Agger said, this is an opportunity to re-evaluate the bidding in general. They were talking about changing Olympic charter and saying that Games can be awarded early if an IOC session decides to do so, but the general consensus was that having a full agreement about this was an exceptional circumstance. They wouldn't agree on this every time. Besides, with this decision we will have a rare occurrence that 4 different continents will host 4 consecutive Olympics. I fail to see how all this can be a bad thing. Sure, somebody may have missed a chance, but the potential candidates for 2028 mostly included those who pulled out on this and/or some previous occassion (like Germany, Italy, Hungary...). Who's to say they wouldn't drop out again?
  14. Lol, Matadi and Hyman raced in two heats of men's 100m.
  15. And yet someone like Isinbayeva very much agreed with the proposal in her speech. Assuming that Paris would win 2024 alone, who would enter 2028 bidding (besides probably USA)? Australia already said they don't plan to bid any time soon. Africa/South America (and other developing nations) are definitely not encouraged after Rio. Asia hosted a lot of them recently. So that leaves North America vs Europe (European chances would be diminished after Paris 2024, and yet you would very likely once again have a lot of cancelled European bids, like Italy who pulled out from both 2020 and 2024...). Situation in Europe is so bad that no one wanted to host 2022 Winter Olympics. They really just needed to enter and they would certainly beat the Asian bids, practically guaranteed victory for any remotely serious bid. They didn't break the rules btw.
  16. It can be awarded in case of exceptional circumstance. Every IOC member agreeing about it is indeed an exceptional circumstance.

Surely the fact that this is WTA also had to do something with Halep's loss.
  19. Main talk today seemed to be about technicalities actually. Whether this can be done without changing the Olympic charter and what would the "Swiss lawyers" say about that. interestingly, 1924 and 1928 Olympic were also jointly awarded!
  20. Well, seeing how Totallympics is the only forum I'm at, I think you can understand the weird feeling of having to open a new thread. New threads are not exactly an everyday thing. Plus, there is no 2024 subforum yet.
  21. Looks like some kind of a Tripartite Commission will be formed before session in Lima. The commission will decide which city gets 2024 Olympics and which gets 2028 Olympics (to avoid popularity vote). Joint awarding seems to be having an overwhelming approval today. P.S. Why on Earth do we not have a thread for this?
  22. A big skiing fan like you should know better. This is downhill, not slalom.

    Tennis Wimbledon 2017

Čilić saved us from strikeout today. But girls did a very nice job nevertheless. Amazing Wimbledon for us btw. This is the first time since 2004 that we had 3 singles players in the second week of a GS. Plus, we also had 6 players in various doubles combinations reaching the second week.
