  1. Interesting to note that Joao Rodrigues from Portugal has been selected for his 7th Olympics in RS:X. Quite an achievement, especially since the windsurfer is quite a physical class. He participated all the way back in Barcelona in '92.
  2. This is a sad day for the sport really, French game fixers win. Can't they just disqualify the French team for, I don't know, being horrible?
  3. How was that not a foul by French? Seemed aggressive. It's ovetime Anyway, why do I even try to watch team sports
  4. Not the first time that they are not particulary original.
  5. Technically, there were only 2 ex-Yugoslav teams from 1996 to 2004. It's just silly to use Yugoslavia as an excuse for your weakness.
  6. I actually fully agree with the tie-break system that was used in Group B. It's way more rational to use head-to-head outcome rather than goal difference whenever possible. Goal difference can be extremly stupid criteria sometimes! It should be used only when nothing else is possible, except coin flipping.
  7. France is a bit too obvious with their strategy, 6:2 for Canada at the moment. I hope they won't make it to the Olympics.
  8. Simply cross I guess I guess this will be one of those events that are perceived "cool and sexy", and that's what IOC apparently wants. That's why we might see skateboarding, surfing and rock climbing in Tokyo.
  9. Brazil chose lightweight double in both men's and women's division.
  10. Slovakia's goal difference is only -9 despite losing all four games. That's respectful.
  11. We might get reallocated quota/wild card if we fail to reach top-7. Back in 2012 for example, both Belgium and Finland received a wild card for men's weightlifting events. So, nations that are of similar caliber to Croatia (in both weightlifting and sport in general). The fact that we have some Olympic medals in weightlifting might help our case. And this time there might be even more reallocations. Some nations will probably have their quotas reduced because of multiple doping cases (Romania is already confirmed for example). All of those quotas will become wild cards.
  12. Lionel Cox of Belgium in shooting. Funny thing about him is that he also didn't qualify for London 2012. He won silver in London after getting into Olympics as a wild card athlete! He might remain the Olympic medalist who never qualified for the Olympics.
  13. Still no official entry list for Oceanian championships, but, apparently New Zealand and Australia will have only women competing. Australia is already qualified in men's. Fiji and Tonga will be the favorites to qualify in men's event.
  14. Today is 120th anniversary of the first modern Olympics.
  15. Oceanian judo championships will be held this weekend. We'll have to see if some new country is going to participate. Only participation at this event might be enough for some nations to earn Oceanian continental quota. Going into Oceanian championships, Vanuatu, American Samoa and Palau are currently in qualification positions.
  16. Ok, so only tiny chance in 60kg and 75kg. But it will be hard, especially since middleweight is the most "popular" category. I guess that Pijetraj is the son of coach Pijetraj? That might explain his selection.
  17. Kazakhstan almost defeated Germany, but it's a tie. 11:11
  18. And now Spain defeats Italy! This tournament is crazy.
  19. We will have only USA and Canada at North American qualification. North and South America should be merged in table tennis. Maybe with similar system to Asia where one quota is guaranteed for both North and South American while the other 7 quotas are contested between everyone else.
  20. Well, some rumours say that Antarctica intentionally turned off the power because they needed time to alter Lapland and Mongolia's votes in their favor!
  21. Netherlands defeats Germany, they should be pretty much guaranteed 2nd place in group.
  22. Russia probably lost their chance after losing to France.
