  1. Wow! Knox is just improving and improving. That time would have put him on the podium in Tokyo. I think he'll do great things in Paris.
  2. I hope these don't become famous last words, and no disrespect, but Canada got lucky (on paper) for the quarters. Italy did beat a good Hungarian team, but Hungary already knew they finished 1st so maybe they weren't trying as hard.
  3. On paper, looks great as Canada will face Italy (11) in the quarters. Could have faced the 5th ranked Netherlands, or even the 4th ranked home team Hungary. Still need 2 more wins to qualify.
  4. Tierney sets a Canadian record and is off to Paris! Edit: Forgot he was already going, haha.
  5. It is absurd. Women made out of the heats with much slower times in Tokyo. Are they just trying to thin the ranks dramatically? Edit: Just want to add that 202(1) wasn't particularly slow, either. 5 of the girls went below the OR. Penny broke her own Canadian record/Olympic record from 2016 and finished 4th.
  6. I'm sure he'll go faster tonight, but Kharun just 0.01 off the OQT in the heats. Kelsey Wog reached the OQT in the 200 breaststroke. Aiden Norman took a second off his PB this morning, but he'll have to take another second off to make the OQT.
  7. Looking at Summer's splits tonight vs 2023, she was a bit faster in the butterfly (0.29), a bit slower in the back (0.2), way faster in the breast (1.79), and slower in the free (0.39). So, essentially, she broke the record with a much improved breaststroke. She's already a world class free, back and butterflyer, so seeing her breast times drop so dramatically just opens the door to imagination of what the future holds for her.
  8. Absolutely. Feels like Olympic preliminaries.
  9. Masse's time would have just been off the podium in Tokyo. Masse is BACK(stroke)!
  10. By a second and a half with no pressure or competition. I was like, "Watch the clock! Watch the clock! It's going to be close! Wait, no it's not. She's going to absolutely destroy that record!"
  11. I don't know the rules, and I don't care what they have to do to make Maggie happy but they have to do it!
  12. Yes, let's focus on what's important here. I was right.
  13. Only 0.05 off his PB, and would have been 5th in Tokyo! In the prelims!
  14. How much "flu medication" did she have in her system at the time? It's unfortunate that when there's a big cover up everyone is suspicious, even if they deserve respect.
  15. I'm just getting a chance to really go through @Topicmaster1010 excellent previews for the trials here. The W 400 IM is incredible, and frankly I didn't realize Canada was so stacked in this race. 4 Women have entry times under the OQT, with three of them having times this season that would have gotten them into the final in Tokyo (and the last two WCs). Then another two actually did compete in Tokyo. Honestly, passively thought of this race as Summer et al. But there's some serious talent here. Should be a fun race! (for second, anyway).
  16. MSH's time would get her into the final, Summer's time would challenge for the gold (so sad she likely can't compete in it at Paris). Pretty disappointed with the 200m after that, though. I expected two (or even more) to get the OQT besides Summer. Most of all disappointed by the breaststroke. No one qualifying is....not great. Edit: Forgot to mention the backstroke. Great race there, great to see two guys qualify. Shave off another half second, could get into the final.
  17. I would put good money on Canada breaking that record, and breaking its gold medal record (7). Summer McIntosh will likely get us most of the way there on her own. I'd also put decent money on Canada breaking the 30 medal mark. And, as always, I'd put my life savings on Canada getting more 4ths than any other nation.
  18. Would have been gold in Tokyo and the last two WC. WOW WOW WOW!
  19. Swimming and athletics are going to be must see TV this summer. Raise your hand if you remember when these two huge sports were a medal desert for Canada. 6 medals in each the last two cycles, don't want to jinx anything but it looks like that'll be beaten in Paris.
