  1. Wow looks like Carney is taking this very seriously. Interviewing all the organizations over the next six months to see what they require individually and funding from grass roots to elite level athletes. They are doing it the right way
  2. whatever it takes lol
  3. It's not an argument. They are taking part in the competition just boycotting the opening ceremonies because Russian and Belarussian athletes will be present
  4. That's what this whole statement is about. The opening ceremonies and why they won’t be going
  5. What else would be compromising their safety at the opening ceremonies ?
  6. Yes but they also said this The Canadian Paralympic Committee released the following statement about the participation of Russia and Belarus at the upcoming Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games: "We stand in solidarity with Ukrainian athletes and Ukrainian people. The Canadian Paralympic Committee argued and voted against the reinstatement of the Russian and Belarussian National Paralympic Committees at the IPC general Assembly in September, and we continue today to believe the conditions have not been met for their reinstatement. Our position is rooted in principle: the values of SAFE, fair , clean and inclusive sport and we continue to stand by those principles. We are just one voice and respect the process of the IPC but we firmly disagree with the outcome. Our focus is ensuring our athletes and teams are in a SAFE environment and are best able to compete at the Winter Games.
  7. Doesn't matter. They won't be going . A bunch of nations including Canada are boycotting because they have allowed Russia and Belarus back in.
  8. Our sprinters on both sides are looking good for the French alps. Last year Jalen Doan won gold in the 500m and silver in the 1000m.
  9. Suspended from Canadian safe sport ?
  10. It’s really getting around everywhere
  11. I love Heil. One of the greatest of all time. And great to see all this talk about our system really needing to change. She’s right it’s not just about funding but about how our sports system is structured and led. We need a plan, we need leaders to drive that change and follow the Australian and New Zealand sport system of putting deep funding into certain sports, not across all 60 national sports organizations that we currently have.
  12. It’s great we are going to be actual medal threats in the Nordic sports now. Exciting times. And as unfortunate as it was for Loutit being injured she said she shifted her focus to helping these jumpers while she was recovering. So really big boost for them having her help develop them.
  13. I’d definitely add figure skating to the mix. Beyond Gogolev, we have incredible depth coming up. Lia Cho (13) is arguably the best young female skater in the world right now, and Quinn Startek (14) is another huge talent that many people are already talking about. Minsol Kwan (17) Camilla Volkova (15) Viktoria Barahatkina (15) and Sandrine Blais (17) are also very promising. Grayson Long (17) is also being talked about a lot and is currently working with Brian Orser. In pairs, Lia Pereira is only 21, which means she still has a long career ahead with Trent if they stay together. But i think Ava Kemp (18) and Yohnatan Elizarov (23) will eventually take over as the next dominant pair. In ice dance, LaLa (25/26) seem poised to step into Piper and Paul’s shoes and potentially even exceed them. They could realistically challenge the young American duo and position themselves strongly heading into the French Alps, even with the French team expected to dominate on home ice. On top of that, we also have a very promising young dance team in Layla Veillon (19) and Alexander Brandys (20). So there is a lot to be excited about for the future of figure skating for Canada as well.
  14. Love this ! It’s nice seeing the private sector really providing the funding our athletes need that the government is lacking in
  15. It’s kind of a good thing we lost. If we would have won the gold it would have nullified how terrible these Olympics were for Canada. Now they are more likely to actually do something about the state of our winter sports programs.
  16. At Canada house for the gold medal game! They opened it today for select fans finally
  17. Just look what Val Maltais did haha. Very transferable. The Dutch have done it quite often as well
  18. I feel like speed skating Canada needs to start transferring more of our short track skaters into long track since we have an abundance of talent there.
  19. Make sure you attend the rest of the events Canada is in then please haha
  20. I wish I felt that way too lol. I’ve been here the entire games and it still stings like a bitch that Canada is having its worst winter games of the 21st century.
