  1. Maybe he will gift all the oil fields to Slovakia if he gets „elected“?
  2. So you decided to watch it? Which was your favorite song? Husavik? Volcano Man? Double Trouble? Jaja Ding Dong? Lion of Love?
  3. I liked the movie, I think the way they capture the „spirit“ of the song contest is quite good. I especially liked the performance of Dan Stevens. I really like Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams, so maybe I am a bit biased. If you don’t like Will Ferrell movies normally than you probably also don’t like this one. It wasn’t his best movie but I would say above average for his standards, maybe on the same level as Get Hard or Daddy‘s Home. Also I actually liked their song at the contest (although/because Rachel McAdams didn’t sing herself) and there are some other great songs, for example Hoppípolla by Sigur Rós.
  4. One athlete who might surprise a lot of people next year: Femke Bol (women‘s 400 m hurdles) Also: Elina Tzengko and Haruka Kitaguchi in women‘s javelin throw
  5. Sadly I discovered this too late and now I am sure that my first choice is already taken ... My guess would be that at least half of all participants wanted to represent that nation.
  6. For anyone with Amazon Prime I can recommend Mr. Robot, Taboo, Hannibal and Fleabag.
  7. Just finished season 1 on Amazon. Quite a good/funny show, although the female detective is pretty annoying(ly stupid).
  8. Really worrying, especially because, as far as I know, the rate of positive tests is very high, which indicates that there are a lot of unreported cases. Surprisingly enough most people in Brazil and the US don’t seem to care.
  9. How does Poland have more than 13k active cases when Germany with far more cases overall has only 6k active cases?
  10. Agreed ... but i think it is a good sign that she was caught. The fact that athletes from such a rich country can't get away with it is something positive, it is a positive sign that the system is working (to some degree).
  11. How so? She is obviously young, but the american/chinese/italian/russian girls are even younger, so they should profit more from this.
  12. Are you sure? Just recently I read a statement from a Chinese politician from before the last election saying „We want Trump to win. He is a businessman, we know how to deal with him“. Trump had managed to piss a lot of foreign leaders (Iran, Europe, Canada, Australia?) off, which in turn allowed China to gain influence in certain areas of the world.
  13. Of course you can’t force people to change their views, but you can still do some things to make incidents like this less likely: - Stricter punishments - Quota for policeman (don’t know if something like this already exists), more Asian/black/Latino/female policeman (they seem to be less prone to racism) - When a policeman has shown certain „tendencies“ in the past, then maybe „letting it slide“ isn’t the best option. In this case it was pretty clear that this guy „wasn’t right“ I am sure there are tons of other options for reforms, but of course the most important thing would be to reduce/eliminate institutional racism in general. Non-white people have less political opportunities (not only because they are poorer), so „their“ candidates have less chance of getting elected, which leads to reforms becoming less likely ... (as you know there is a lot of money involved in American politics, so the poorer you are, the less influence you will have on politicians). It also has to be said that: a) Even under Obama not much changed, which might indicate how „stubborn“ some people in power are when it comes to changing things. b) Some control mechanism have already been installed, for example body-cams, so it is also wrong to say that nothing can be done.
  14. You make it sound as if „being blind“ and „having a gun“ are mutually exclusive?
  15. Just saw on the news that Germany apparently is the 2nd biggest „donator“ with more than 200 million while China spends less than 100 million. This really surprised me, based on their influence I thought that China was spending much more (than Germany). Now I wonder how they got a criminal like Tedros elected?
  16. Didn’t realize you were that old ...
  17. I don’t see Israel splitting from the US, even if the US would openly criticize them. I also think the US has a pretty good relation with Jordan?
  18. Still he doesn’t seem fine with Nord Stream 2?
  19. China too ... North Korea? Iran? Afghanistan? UK? Probably a long list ...
  20. I don’t like to say this, but I think Trump has a point. Social media sites should be held accountable for helping to spread hate speech. Of course a consequence would be that many of Trump‘s tweets would have to be deleted.
  21. How are they messing up his memory? If people „blame“ this on him, then it is their fault. I have no clue who this guy was and what he did, but if someone holds him accountable for something that he had no influence on, then it is just stupid.
  22. You need to calm down and get a clear head. As Long as you are only saying this nonsense on a forum like this, it isn’t a problem, but I hope you don’t voice those opinions in public.
  23. Thanks for the laugh ... The American democracy is in a pretty bad state, but still far better than the Chinese „democracy“ ever was. Also: 1) What value does an apology have when it is a forced apology? 2) So the policeman should apologize before he was even found guilty/before there was any chance to determine whether his actions were the reason for the victim‘s death? I get why people think that this is the „most effective and efficient“ solution in states like China or Saudi Arabia (this reminds me of Khashoggi‘s family members publicly „forgiving“ his killers and therefore allowing the state not to sentence them to death, after receiving multiple million dollars worth of compensation by the state ...), but in western countries it usually doesn’t work like this.
  24. 1) In the future meat produced in the lab will be cheaper than traditional meat. 2) It would greatly help with climate change. 3) It would also greatly help with preventing future possible pandemics. If western countries keep pumping their animals full with antibiotics, then it is only a matter of time until a pandemic will start in a western country.
  25. Are you on the streets protesting?
