Qualification Tracker

Everything posted by dodge

  1. In the end 16 countries qualified for the semis in C1 for men. 12 spots available Eligible for quota 3 boats 2 boats 1 boat
  2. France only gets the host quota in K1 events, not c1 events so they have to qualify there
  3. 16 nations will fight for the quotas in women's c1 and are the 2 new nations to add to the list of SF qualifiers from earlier in the day 12 European nations.
  4. On the men's side, it was really only the Czechs that didn't perform with the low bib numbers. They can definitely get top 12 On the women's, there are several with the top 2 seeds missing out in run 1.
  5. If the Men's C1 heats were repeated, these would be the quotas would get the European Games spot As with the women, there's a long way to go
  6. If the heat results were repeated here are the quota boats The European games spot would then go to Obviously a long way to go but just an exercise to show how it might work
  7. Quite the opposite. There is literally nothing more the Scottish footballers would like to do than beat England. If that means 2/3 of them won't go to the Olympics, they'll be more than happy to make that sacrifice
  8. A reminder of the ranking of nations from the European games. I expect the European Games quota to go quite a bit down the World Championship rank. France has been assigned a quota for mens and womens K1.
  9. Excellent posting today @Rafa Maciel Very informative
  10. First time in a while that Rhys has scored over 15 in qualifying and finals so nice to see a little bit of consistency.
  11. There’s been other team mates who had internal squabbles in the past and other GTs won by the second best man in a team. This one more complicated than most because of the trio but Stephen Roche got death threats for winning the 1987 Giro ahead of his team leader. We had the Contador-Lance split team. I think Chris Froome lost a Vuelta trying to make sure Wiggins won it one year (he didn’t) and Bjarne Riis wasn’t close to the level of Jan Ulrich the year he won the Tour. In the end Kuss will win probably his only GT while the other two will go on to win loads more races and likely some more GTs (particularly Jonas).
  12. Only question now is whether Remco attacks for the green jersey 😃
  13. The road cycling ranks are final in mid-October. That'll be about 150-160 quotas decided with at least 45 countries involved
  14. And medals won by crews who qualified at the final regatta GOLD mens eight SILVER women's pair BRONZE men's pair women's quad women's four women's eight
  15. Boat spots won at the final regatta in 2021 4 3 2 1 New Zealand, mentioned above, qualified their men's eight. Lithuania got the men's quad when (not) Russia had a doping violation
  16. I’ve posted this before. There’s no “defending” points on here as it only counts those earned in the time frame. GB are third and I don’t see France overtaking them PCS olympic ranking
  17. From the qualification document "For quota places obtained in... Continental Qualification regattas and the Final Qualification regatta, the athlete that qualified the boat(s) at these events have to compete in the same event should they compete at the Olympic Games Paris 2024." My bolding just for emphasis The preceding paragraph allows NOCs to pick whoever they want to compete in the boats that qualify in 2023
  18. Hope all is well @OlympicIRL, I know loads of us really appreciate your hard work!
  19. Sorry, as I said above he hasn’t visited that site in over a year
  20. A small point about the final regatta is that they are people specific, rather than just for the NOCs so while some countries such as Romania enjoy doubling athletes up etc, it isn’t always possible (or preferable) for the last chance qualifiers It’s a consideration for Ireland with the women’s four. Keogh/Murtagh were in the pair here but if they went back to the four (with Lambe and the injured Hegarty), they’d certainly qualify, but may struggle in pairs and fours in Paris.
  21. I don’t know him personally but I think he posted on the boards.ie forum as “Dan Man”. In previous Olympic threads there he was very active and knowledgeable but hasn’t visited that site in a year (I myself don’t post there regularly either) I hope he’s just on holiday and enjoying some time away from here but I have no info on him
  22. Anything fishy about the winner? 😃
  23. Paul O’Donovan just win his 6th consecutive world title since winning silver in Rio 2016 singles 2017 single 2018 double with brother Gary 2019 double with Fintan McCarthy 2022 double with Fintan 2023 double with Fintan in between himself and Fintan won gold in Tokyo Truly exceptional
  24. That’s a statement from them. Very excited to see what next year brings them!
  25. Ha. I think our girls had them anyway. The Polish were the danger. Some nations who think they had medal chances in Paris won’t be there we will
