  1. A victory lap for Noah Lyles this week in the US (hopefully)
  2. TV were reporting he had a sour throat - quickly saying it wasn't covid - and yeah, you'd expect him to be in the final 8 every day We're marc Soler away from a Jumbo 1-2-3 and they won't even have had to fight for it
  3. 5 boats in. The lightweights look great. Between them and Swiss for gold (now and next year) Really happy to see all the others qualify relatively comfortably. Both pairs looked really strong today. They're in medal contention for sure Fingers crossed for the B finals. Lightweights in a fight but have a chance. Fours were strong for 1250 and then tailed off quite badly. Hopefully just keeping energy but hard to see them winning
  4. Remco is clearly ill. There's some very average domestiques still in the leaders bunch. A real, real shame for the race Hopefully Kuss wins now
  5. Cricket world cup did the opposite. They got tired of the little countries causing shocks so made it harder for them to qualify
  6. Baseball and softball had 6, so I'd imagine there is zero chance of them allowing cricket to have 12
  7. Comparison of Germany to Ireland since 2012 2012 1 boat, 1 athlete - no medals 14 boats, 48 athletes - 2 gold, 1 silver 2016 3 boats, 5 athletes - 1 silver 10 boats, 35 athletes - 2 gold, 1 silver 2020 6 boats, 13 athletes - 1 gold, 1 bronze 7 boats, 24 athletes - 2 silver 2024 (so far) 5 boats, 10 athletes 2 boats, 5 athletes Obviously vastly different countries, but going in opposite directions
  8. I don't mind if Cricket is included but it will be very interesting to see how it plays politically. England will become GB, The West Indies will be split up. Assuming 8 teams, would they give 2 slots to Oceania, 3 to Asia, 1 to Europe, 1 to Americas and 1 to Africa? Possibly one to each with the rest "world" qualifiers? If there's 6 nations, there'll be huge cricketing nations missing out
  9. They'll all add to the totals in the B finals. Some young crews improving and may be competitive next year
  10. With just the 8s and B finals to come. Here's the qualified boats so far 8/12 7/12 6/12 5/12 4/12 3/12 2/12 1/12
  11. Not yet, but they usually unlock the videos here not long after the event Daily motion WR channel
  12. A little too much is being made of the lanes IMO. The best crews had the best lanes. The top 3 were more than likely coming form those lanes regardless of weather. Instead of the usual 2-5, it was 1-4.
  13. 48 boats won Olympic spots today 6 5 4 3 2 1 Athlete quotas won today 20 18 14 12 10 6 4 2
  14. The Irish girls finished well, but that is a stacked field. Any of them could win it.
  15. First 15 quotas decided and we have qualifiers from Europe, Oceania, Asia, Africa, South America and North America. Great to see
  16. For men and women now, 34 nations left (inc RUS and BLR) Per nation 12/14 11/14 10/14 9/14 8/14 7/14 5/14 4/14 3/14 2/12 1/12 Usual caveats about Belarus and Russia there. Racing as AIN here
  17. Incredible race. Greece would have fancied olympic qualification too. Two potential finalists - gone
  18. We're down to the semis in all women's events now. 27 (inc "AIN", if allowed) nations left to fight for the olympic spots. Top nations in terms of boats left 7/7 6/7 5/7 4/7
  19. European qualifier only open if they they don't have 2 qualified boats. They'll probably get that here. Final qualifier will be open
  20. Hanna Prakatsen won silver for in Tokyo. She's representing here but she's also out at the QF stage
  21. So can we see the results anywhere? Specifically the womens 49kg?
  22. So we've seen all the crews now. Men's four and quads have no chance really. Not much was expected. A B final would be nice for both of them but they're ranked dead last for now Of the possible qualifiers LW men double - won heat. Should be no problem qualifying Men Double - 2nd behind the USA. In contention for the final, but I expect them to qualify Men's Pair - 2nd behind Spain. A pleasant surprise. Very hopeful they'll qualify now LW women's double - 2nd behind Romania. Qualification on a knife edge but a very decent start Women's double - Excellent win ahead of Lithuania. Was worried about this very new combo but should qualify now. Women's pair - 2nd behind Netherlands. Full expect them to qualify now Women's four - 3rd behind GBR and Australia but they both expect medals here. A final isn't out of reach, but they're one of 9 crews who think they can get the 7 spots
  23. No real restrictions on entries. There’s plenty of info on the pre-event stuff here Click on information tab
  24. No disrespect to the other nations there, but the GB flag really stands out in rowing terms!
  25. Is the longines tracker down? EDIT - it came back
