  1. Does it though? The events are almost on opposite ends of the schedule.
  2. The 30 day rule takes precedence so it doesn't matter what is discovered after. Welcome to the world of early sports where poorly made rules can let someone expose a loophole. I'm not saying we should be celebrating Thorpe, but he did sneak his way to an Olympic gold medal and based on the 1912 rules it is legitimate.
  3. Canada falls to 13th in the men's hammer throw right at the last throw
  4. I just wanted you to understand that this was not a case of being punished for a crime that people think today is unjust, but rather the rules/laws at the time were not followed. You see it in court cases where the police/lawyers didn't follow the process correctly.
  5. I don't understand, we "tamper with history" when we strip medals from dopers years later. This is no different, the IOC broke the rules they had at the time. This isn't some retrospective rule trying to be enforced.
  6. Adam Keenan opens up the World Championships with the men's hammer throw.
  7. That's twice we lost to South Korea
  8. I would love for the challenger series to be an actual series, but the travel cost for lower ranked nations likely prevents it from being viable.
  9. This just means there will be more announcements as to what sport he competed in.
  10. This will be Jamaica's second appearance in a row. Mexico on the other hand will miss the World Cup for the second time despite on paper being the third strongest team in the region.
  11. Sounds like they are going to offer qualification spots at those championships to force nations to compete.
  12. If I remember correctly, rankings are based off results over the last 52 weeks.
  13. Based on the wording of the document (and how things were done for mixed doubles in 2020) it would be reallocated to the rankings. Of course, it wouldn't be the first time a sport federation changes the rules on the fly. I wonder if the Americas will follow Asia and split the quotas by region (North and Latin America) or will they just combine everything?
  14. Six streams is nice, but does it cost that much more to add a few more feeds so we can guarantee we won't miss a Canadian compete? In a perfect world, they'd just stream everything regardless if Canada is participating.
  15. As far as I know, there are no Northern Ireland Rugby/Hockey teams so the situation is a bit different than the other sports. Also technically a Northern Irish player doesn't need to switch to England/Scotland/Wales to be eligible for Great Britain, they just can't represent Ireland. Of course, this severely hampers that player's international experience since Great Britain only competes in Rugby/Hockey at the Olympics (or friendlies/smaller tournaments) so I doubt anyone would choose this route other than to stir controversy or they have no intention in competing internationally.
  16. Canada's struggle to score goals is going to cost us big one day.
  17. I think you are overestimating the support the national federation gives to its athletes. Most of the time they are on their own. She will likely still retain her club coach and continue to train in Canada (or maybe move to the United States). There are two major reasons why an athlete changes nationality, they either had a huge disagreement with the old federation or the new nation has enticed them to switch sides. We don't know which one is the case for Sanchez, but she'll have the potential to be a big star in the Philippines if she can win golds at the Southeast Asian and Asian Games next year while in Canada it will be tough for her to get the spotlight. Yes she's giving up winning more relay medals, but she already has 2 Olympic and 6 World Championship medals so I don't think she will regret it. She also has a chance (albeit a very small one) to win an individual medal which again will be much bigger for the Philippines than Canada.
  18. First day already saw a bit of an upset as Jamaica defeated Mexico 1-0. This will make it unlikely for Mexico to reach the semis and will thus exclude them from qualifying to the Olympics.
  19. Clearly this is a long con to have the entire world under the British Empire
  20. This is now our best every Aquatics World Championships based on the number of medals won. We still have a couple of chances in the women's 3m events
  21. Canada loses to 1-1 (4-3 PSO) and is eliminated from Olympic qualification contention. And here I thought we would get eliminated by Mexico.
  22. Caeli McKay 3rd after the semifinals. Good chance for a medal, but sadly the is pretty much a lock for 1st and 2nd
  23. Canada women going to the final Edit: Oops wrong thread
  24. Canada holds on to win 16-14 over and advances to the final and will play against the winner of or
