  1. Good news is that the dedicated Field Event streams on Eurovision Sport are NOT geo-blocked. https://eurovisionsport.com/schedule
  2. Straight morning final in the Women’s Shot. Very strong field too.
  3. Oh, they definitely needed the result of the Fourth Heat before they could give the decision of a three-way dead heat!
  4. 3rd heat in the Women’s 400m is going to be decided in the Law Courts, looks like - 3 way tie for second & auto Q
  5. Teams for the NCAA Championships next week announced. Some World Cup names involved. Will be live-streamed. https://www.ncaa.com/news/skiing/article/2024-02-27/2024-ncaa-skiing-championship-field-announced
  6. Here’s the obligatory “Where to watch?” Post. Here in Britain it’s the BBC, which means luxuriant amounts of aimless yakking, not very much shot put qualification. https://worldathletics.org/competitions/world-athletics-indoor-championships/glasgow24/where-to-watch?countryCode=GB Alternatively, the World Feed, if you have your full-blown VPN. https://worldathletics.org/videos
  7. Yeah, that might be the one. But I’ve noticed that in 1500m since those days, no-one even gives their neighbour a handshake until all racers are finished - a long time in the heats!.
  8. Yeah, but other swimmers were still racing. The rule is that everyone has to finish, isn’t it? Wasn’t there a DQF in an Olympic Relay for this? Sydney 2000? I’d have thought that any 1500m swimmer would learn the rules at about age 9.
  9. Geez, the “wait till the race is finished” rule has been around for, what, 30 years now? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/othersports/article-13136413/NC-State-Owen-Lloyd-swimmer-ACC-championship-title-stripped.html
  10. Yeah, they have been doing it this season. It does have the good effect of making the last eight cutoff point a lot less predictable, but the medals generally go to the usual nations.
  11. 6 months to the Paralympics. Paris 2024: All you need to know for Paralympic Games - BBC Sport
  12. Don't know, but I'm guessing leftists are throwing fits because they lost the election so heavily.
  13. Will be interesting, but my confident opinion based on complete 100% ignorance of the principles of either sport but my willingness to start a fight is that surfing depends on physical strength, and that skateboarding depends on youthful flexibility.
  14. Exactly. Or you have a seeded competition based on a four-year world rankings on fencing and if you’re knocked out in Round 1, whose fault is that?
  15. Finished a relay for the first time since about 2000 or so!
  16. Great moments in athletics - winner of the 800m in Madrid throws his bouquet into the crowd - and everyone starts fighting over it, destroying it.
  17. First ever World Championship medal for aka de glijdende duivels.
  18. Well, you can go back to having a five-day comp as it was in 1976 when Thomas Bach became Olympic Champion in Fencing. For those who find Test Cricket just a bit too rushed.
  19. UK Nationals this weekend on FTA https://youtube.com/@britishcycling?si=r3v6KN1EO_fBW9m3
  20. Don’t like the other changes, but frankly this is overdue.
  21. Sure, but lots of sports are broadcast with the same dual sex basis & biathlon is the only one where women win the ratings battle. Possibly because it’s the only one where women actually have a biological advantage - with shooting positions.
  22. Gymnastics, Figure Skating (Olympic) Softball & Netball (non-O) are the only female sports that sustain the kind of commercial audience sufficient to be professional without subsidies from the male version. AFAIK the single shared sport where the women get bigger audiences & therefore better TV spots than men is….biathlon.
  23. Two big meets tomorrow - unfortunately Berlin seems to be restricted to German & Polish TV only. Madrid is the Gold Tour Final - preview here. https://worldathletics.org/news/preview/meeting-indoor-tour-final-madrid-2024-charlton
  24. Catching up again - Ruta del Sol was something less than a classic this year. Will give ES coverage a miss. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Vuelta_a_Andalucía?wprov=sfti1#
