  1. So... are we actually going to beat the gold medal total from Nagano? Lillehamer? I'm starting to get worried we won't even get to the seven gold medal bar.
  2. I just want to make something absolutely clear, the Swiss, how are their skis?
  3. I don't see how anyone takes it away from her as long as she can get down the course.
  4. Canada just does not have any women's team that is very good currently. They all struggle on the world scene.
  5. Ya well I hope Canada has a similar turnaround because at this point I'm starting to worry we'll have our worst Olympics since Lillehammer in terms of gold medals. Missing out on our best gold medal chance on day 1 really set the tone so far. Will be interesting to see how well the US can do in the remaining speed skating events, that could be the key to finishing in the top 3. And maybe Ocala on it's own could win more gold medals than Canada :P
  6. So Grondin has five(!) Olympics to go before he's as old as the gold medallist, and two before he matches the age of the individual gold medallist. Two snowboardcross medals at 20 is sort of insane.
  7. Lots of Canadians on the Chinese team for you to root for xD
  8. No method this time though Throwing a sick method (and landing it) would have been an epic exclamation mark on her career. And very dumb, granted xD Useless trivia: every time Jacobelis has won a medal at the Olympics, won bronze.
  9. I realize my preference for G-S-B when ranking the medal table will get both my and citizenships revoked :P
  10. Why would you even fake that? Nobody would care. Ted-Jan Bloemen had a laughably small connection to Canada when he switched nationality and nobody cried foul.
  11. I think Nick Baumgartner can finally retire now xD
  12. We're 14th on the medal table. That's pretty dire.
  13. It's hard (and very dangerous) to fake an accidental clash of blades.
  14. Canada can't win a gold medal these Olympics, this is going to end up being Canada's worst Olympics in a a couple decades at this rate xD Also remember when was having bad Olympics? Everything is going their way now.
  15. There is some variation of this rule in every event of this kind in skiing and snowboarding. See also, individual and team parallel events. That being said, even with this rule in this event you usually want your best snowboarded first (that was the usual pattern when they had single gendered team events with a free choice of run order).
  16. Probably because he couldn’t skate due to his COVID positive test.
  17. I think a lot of people are overestimating Kamila’s chances here. I am fully confident she won’t be allowed to compete and that ROC will lose the team gold (which I find fairly tragic for the rest of the team tbh).
  18. They have two to four (depending on how real you think the Barcelona and Vancouver bids are) solid bids already lined up. 2030 won't be an issue at all.
  19. on track to have the best Olympics any country has ever had in sliding sports. These results wouldn't look out of place on a German track xD
  20. Well that was nice while it lasted.
  21. Ya, had China put Sui and Han for the free the result would have been different, but why risk them fighting for 4th?
  22. Err, it's 0-0 after the first period between and .
  23. I'm guessing his COVID case is why he was chosen, otherwise you'd think Brown would get that pick. Either way, makes sense to give him one more skate, hopefully he'll have some fun. Keegan Messing being chosen for the gala is probably the best thing that will happen to Canadian figure skating all games xD (Yes Canada looks not all unlikely to get a bronze team medal, but there will be so many asterisks next to it you can't really call it an accomplishment)
