  1. Going to go ahead and predict you'll get your wish xD A duel where both Chen and Hanyu are at their best would be amazing.
  2. Going to be quad viewing the curling live on Wednesday morning, then the same thing for draw 2 on Wednesday evening then both the early women’s hockey games. Then bed. Will be on Beijing time from day 1 to day 4 then on both the middle and final week-ends, but otherwise I’ll just be watching the early morning and late night events live.
  3. Useless piece of trivia: this will be the Olympics since Turin 2006 where ski jumping doesn't start before the opening ceremonies.
  4. It's more the way he says it that sticks with me. He really overemphasizes every part of the word "articulation" for dramatic effect.
  5. First thing I did was check to see if Bode Miller was on there. He isn't, which is excellent (his commentary in 2018 was... not good). Ya, would be great if he was there. John Morgan is just a treasure, though. "The articulation of the sled!" I actually miss when Singer and Morgan used to do bobsleigh commentary together.
  6. Derek Livingston is replaced by Liam Gill in the snowboard men's half-pipe due to an injury.
  7. Might be a false positive? Happened to one of the Australian curling player.
  8. The problem is that federations chose the judges they send when they win a spot on the panel, and obviously for federations that have skaters in contention the first criteria is who is going to advantage their skaters the most, not who is the best judge. As long as national federations pick judges this will be a problem.
  9. It’s not as innovative as the Pyeongchang course (not sure we’ll ever see another slopestyle course as innovative and influential as the Pyeongchang one) but it looks like a really great, modern slopestyle course. The Great Wall motif is a nice flourish.
  10. Given their stated goal (per their own MoU) is essentially to overthrow the government and abolish the Canadian constitution, not that crazy. The people running this either have no idea what the implications of their MoU are, or they are just crazy. All MPs were advised to stay away from Parliament Hill.
  11. The Ski Jumping venue is the first one I've seen so far that uses a colour other than blue for the look of the games. https://twitter.com/ChKlaue/status/1487084009805197314?s=20&t=S5sNI_yuy_-8SEelPB5mNA
  12. Pictures from day one of moguls training: https://english.news.cn/20220131/c65cbd3722c947e4b1cd257e4ce193a9/c.html Also a first look at the slopestyle course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tYaXDdINOY&t=1s
  13. Huge 2-0 win for against at home, without Davies. Canada still undefeated in qualifying, every other team in CONCACAF has at least two losses.
  14. Very important for her to test negative soon, too, since her best event starts on day 1
  15. I think your choices made more sense than the actual selection xD
  16. Throw in ski jumping, luge and biathlon if you have the insane amount of hopium I always have pre-Olympics. But even I am not crazy enough to think we have even a 1% chance at a medal in cross country skiing.
  17. Previous reports that the Beijing 2022 COVID app contains security risks, or that it is a spying tool, are being questioned by security experts.
  18. Canada beating the US a decade ago would have been unthinkable. This program has improved a lot.
  19. Just euthanize this sport already...
  20. Also both very good choices (especially since Canada has never picked a curler as a flag bearer). I'm not sure if they will have flown in early enough, though. The alternates are flying early (with the mixed doubles team), but the four starters for both the men's and women's team are planning on flying out pretty late. I don't remember if they mentioned specific dates, though. It appears that almost all the other Canadian teams took the approach of getting in the bubble ASAP (all the bobsleigh athletes are there, for example, and training doesn't start until the 10th for the women and 11th for the men). (Also, as the resident Acadian/Quebecois hybrid on this forum, I gotta say - Canada is way overdue a French-Canadian flag bearer at this point, it's been 84 years there hasn't been one since Turin, Summer of Winter)
  21. My proposal is Marie-Philip Poulin. She undoubtedly deserves it. She does have a game the next morning (against ) so that might be a problem. Toss in Marc Kennedy if we need a second flagbearer because he'll be in Beijing not doing anything at the time (he flies in early to be a possible replacement for Jon Morris in mixed doubles if he tests positive). ) Hamelin would be a great choice if not for the 1000m prelims and, more importantly, the 2000m mixed relay finals the next day. Mikaël Kingsbury is a complete non-starter for the same reason.
