    Biggest remaining bullet dodged by . Unless something seismic happens the podium is pretty much locked in now, gold, silver, bronze. and really didn't do anything to help the US here.

    Misato Komatsubara and Tim Koleto are going to win an Olympic medal, which is only marginally better :P (The rest of the Japanese team really deserves it tho)

    A horror show by Roman here, falling on a singled jump and in the middle of a step sequence. Hopefully he can have a better performance in the individual event (obviously no shot at a medal, but it's always nice to see people skate their best).

    That's unironically a really good result tbh. Without Messing Canada had no shot at all at a medal, and just making the free skate is a huge win.

    Yes, and it's indeed super stupid. My proposed fix for this: 8 teams make the free (this still means a max of two flights per event), and we use this scoring system: 15 - 13 - 11 - 9 - 7 - 5 - 3 - 1, so the free's value is more in line with how it is in regular figure skating.

    Not really. It would take a miracle. Honestly given the lineup Canada has, fourth place is an amazing result.

    Providing a ton of reliable TV coverage throughout the entire Olympics was actually one of the arguments the WCF used to convince the IOC to add curling xD

    Karen Chen completely ruined any chance had of winning the team event.

    She’s the best in the world. Simple as that. So happy she pulled it off, she really deserves it.

    Unsurprisingly given her injuries this will likely be the last competition for Aileen Frisch. In an interview with Korean media she says she plans to return to Europe to study, then return permanently in South Korea afterwards.

    Ya, I felt the same thing. I am guessing broadcasting is a big challenge due to COVID. As mentioned earlier in the thread Tokyo had big problems too, and I don't remember any of that being an issue in Rio or Pyeongchang.

    I really lived the Beijing track at the test event, too. It’s a shame it won’t be a regular on the world cup circuit due to it’s location.

    My main complain is actually OBS. They had some really odd camera angles in moguls, luge and cross country and some notable TV graphic mistakes all over the place.

    Dukurs has some of the worst luck I’ve ever seen an Olympian have tbh. Prime example of why you can’t judge an athlete’s resume based primarily on the Olympics.

    The side view is rarely ever shows at the world cup. A lot of venues don’t seem to have the camera set up for it. At the Olympics they’ve had that view available since at least 2006 IIRC, and they always love to use it (because it looks spectacular), though usually they use it a lot less.

    Unrelated: I hate, *hate* the side view OBS kept insisting on showing. It’s basically impossible to see wtf is going on when they show that view.
