  1. To sum up, Italy did not deserve to be promoted to the Elite. They were unable to win against either Slovenia or Hungary. If they had won at least one of these matches, even after overtime, they would have advanced. Everything worked out perfectly for Italy: playing at home, failures of the main rivals against weaker teams, optimal preparation time for the tournament, etc. If we didn't advance in such a situation, we will never advance. Especially since I don't see any further plan here. I wonder what they will do with the Canadian coaches?
  2. Overall, these Olympics in Cortina-Milano will be a huge failure. It is not even known whether they will complete the bobsleigh track on time... Comparing 2006 and 2026, you can see how we have fallen as a country, because at least then all the sport facilities were completed on time.
  3. From 2019 we knew we had the Olympics and since then, instead of moving forward, we have been playing worse and worse. What's the point? Look at France, Switzerland etc. Even 15 years ago we played on equal terms with them, and now we have no chance against them. I don't expect miracles, but winning against Great Britain or Slovenia without their few experienced players should be obvious. Hungary played here with a hopeless coach and a conflicted team, but they still beat us. And this is our case... When will we finally win against someone serious?
  4. Taking into account the miss of Russia and Belarus- 5 years ago we would have been fighting against relegation from this division, because instead of Korea and Japan, e.g. Great Britain, Poland or Austria would be playing here. Let's not forget this. In my opinion, we haven't been this weak for 30 years. And no 8-1 against Korea will change that... We should have scored one more goal against Hungary and that mattered. Now we can wait another year and lose again to someone like Hungary or Slovenia. I won't be surprised if next year we lose to Romania and Ukraine, because there is progress there, while we see stagnation. It used to be unthinkable to lose to Great Britain like last year.
  5. I was known that Hungary would win today. I don't remember anyone ever playing for us when they didn't have to. Hungary played tragically poorly here and was saved only by the goalkeeper. It's a shame for Italy that without Russia and Belarus we have to be stuck in a lower league. Last year we lost to Poland and Great Britain, now we lost to Slovenia and Hungary. Since 2019, we have not managed to win an important match against a serious team. We are missing 1-2 NHL stars who would make a difference in decisive moments, e.g. on the pitch. yesterday 41 shots on goal for Hungary 21 and still a defeat. Unfortunately, these players naturalized in our country are weak and do not make any difference. Basically 2 wasted years with Keenan and his staff. Now you have to wait another year to play Romania and Japan, and then lose the decisive match to Poland or Austria. So it will be business as usual. However, in Turin 2006 we had a much better team than now. 5-6 years ago we played better because we were able to advance to the Elite when the level was much higher. If we can't beat Hungary since 2011, what are we talking about? With all due respect, this isn't Sweden or Canada. 10-15 years ago we were at the level of France, and now where are they and where are we? They have players in the NHL and we have to take some naturalized average players.
  6. Romania can be seen to have made great progress since previous years, which cannot be said about Italy. If Italy had made as much progress as Romania, they would now be sure of promotion to the Elite. Romania also deserves respect for their will to fight and not breaking down after the first 2 matches and heavy defeats.
  7. I don't understand how, with the Olympics at home in less than 2 years, you are unable to acquire a first-class player from the USA or Canada who will be able to score goals with decent effectiveness. Today: Italy- 39 shots: 2 goals, Hungary: 18 shots: 2 goals in regular time. No, comment.
  8. This is a team bordering on Elite and 1st division. Same as Slovenia, UK and Poland. We haven't beaten a team like this since 2019. We haven't been able to beat Hungary in an important match for over a dozen years. We didn't deserve this promotion, because it takes more than beating Romania or Korea. I will only add that Russia and Belarus are excluded, and we are still stuck in the first division. Shame.
  9. As usual, defeat against Hungary. This year it was a defeat against Hungary and Slovenia, last year it was a defeat against Poland and Great Britain. Always the same pattern. When there is an important match against a good rival, we lose. Today we had a huge advantage in shots, but Hungary has the better goalkeeper. This makes a difference. Our goalkeeper is 19 years old and maybe one day he will be good, but he is not yet. In any case, I do not believe that the Italian team will advance to the Elite in the near future. You can't advance there just by beating Romania or Japan. I haven't seen such weak Hungary and Slovenia for a long time, but it was enough for the Italians. We are just weak. The last time we won a competitive match against Hungary was probably in 2011... That says something. Next year we will lose to Ukraine, which is making progress. Just before the goal for Hungary - a great star: Salinitri did not shoot from 1 meter into the goal and it took its revenge. If we are to naturalize someone, let it be a class player who will score in such situations. Our naturalized players are simply weak and make no difference, so why do we need them?
  10. Unfortunately, her career seems to be coming to end. Health is more important than sport.
  11. The idea for a team with Keenan at the coach will be a complete failure if they don't win against the weak Hungarians in 2 days and can`t advance. Any Italian coach can win against Romania and Japan.
  12. Nothing, it's always the same every year. As soon as a serious rival appears, we don't exist. It will be the same with Hungary. This is not why a renowned staff from Canada is hired and organizes competitions at home to win against Romania and Japan after overtime... A tragedy. A few years ago, at least every 2-3 years, we played in the Elite and now? Russia and Belarus are missing but we are stuck in a lower division and haven`t been able to win against a strong opponent for 5 years.
  13. Terrible game by the Italians in the 1st period. I don't see a chance for even 1 point in today's match. Unfortunately, the Italian team since 2019 didn`t win against any better or equal rival at the World Championships/qualifiers for IO. I'm afraid that here it will be a standard 2 defeats and even the very weak Hungary will win against us Championship at home, full squad, great coach from Canada, many weeks to prepare but absolute no progress.
  14. Is it safe to qualify for Italy in the men's singles?
  15. Romania- Hungary 2-1If the Italians don`t advance at home this year this team will probably have to be disbanded.
  16. I thought Garozzo didn't make Italy's squad for the Olympics because his ranking was too low: 5th place. In your opinion, who will be the 4th person among the girls: Batini or Palumbo?
  17. Yesterday, Italy's exhausting victory over Japan and today a key match against Slovenia. Honestly, neither Ita, Hun nor Slo make a very good impression here. The future star of Italian hockey - 19-year-old goalkeeper Damian Clara didn`t play well yesterday.
  18. I think it's a metaphor: his heart is broken because he wasn't named to the Olympic team. I understand that. In Fie ranking he is the 5th Italian and apparently the decision was made not to join the team as a reserve. The decision is a bit strange but I trust Cerioni.
  19. The general tendency is that the IOC reduces the number of quotas + introduces some additional preferences for weaker continents and countries. The result is that there are disciplines in which it is more difficult for a European country to qualify for the Olympics than to win a medal. To me this is absurd. I understand the promotion of sports around the world, but then let's just increase the number of quotas in most sports and, for example, throw out weird things like break dancing, surfing, etc.
  20. Look at rowing... During the European Championships, special qualifying regattas are organized for European countries that have won less than 2 qualifications in total at the World Championships. Moreover, in the same place. As if it wasn't possible to simply make an open European Championship and distribute the quotas to the best crews who havn`t yet qualified. In my opinion, the IOC and their stupid rules are to blame because these absurdities apply to virtually every sports federation.
  21. Nothing can beat the stupid qualification rules in sailing anyway... Yesterday, the Italian crew in 49 became the victims. And all this because of constant fiddling with continental quotas and inventing some strange preferences based on unclear rules.
  22. I wonder if in Lucerna will finally start the golden team from Tokyo: Rodini-Cesarini or the one from there: Rodini-Corsio? As of today, two qualifications should be fought: GRE, ITA, FRA (they haven't competed yet this year but they will definitely be dangerous). For now, Greece is slightly ahead of Italy (the finally composition of the crew is still an open question). If Rodini and Cesarini can qualifying for the Olympics, that will be a great success for us. Defending gold or even winning bronze remains a dream.
  23. Our top judokas are apparently planning to take part in the World Championships to can 100% seeding in Paris, which is rather certain in the case of Scutto, Bellandi, Lombardo and Parlati. The exception is Giuffrida, who may prefer to start in the European Championship and focus only on the Olympics. She is an experienced competitor and you can trust that she knows her body and has a good plan. The rest of our team - the potentially worse part of it - made good use of these competitions: - Manzi/Piras basically agreed the amount for Italy, it's just a matter of which one for them, - Antonio Esposito took 5th place today and promotion to the Olympics is already certain for him. The only thing I have doubts about is Toniolo and Tavano, who would have 100% chance of getting a ticket to Paris if they had taken the points here. The same goes for Polling but perhaps it's too early for her debut in NT. She definitely must start in some big tournament before the Olympics: Slam/World Championships, because currently her advancement is not certain yet.
