  1. The Italians must win against Slovenia in the last match for 3 points and they should save themselves. I just hope that Slovakia will treat their last match against Poland with 100% confidence before which they will be sure of 1st place and promotion.
  2. Bolzano's earlier elimination may paradoxically help the Italian team in the World Championships in Bolzano at the turn of April and May. While I don't believe in winning against Slovenia but we can fight against Hungary. There must be the best possible squad and the highest form.
  3. We'll see. Theoretically, the peak of form should be in the Olympic year but the Italian team performed very well in 2022: World Championships and European Championships in Rome. To win medals in Paris you will have to swim faster than in 2022 for the World Champ. and I hope that the Italian team will be able to do it. In the case of Paltrinieri, I am counting mainly on open waters. I also don't know whether Burdisso will be able to repeat to the results from 2021/2022. I have serious doubts. If not him, who will take part in the medley relay? Razzetti?
  4. I hope Martinenghi will swim under 58 seconds in the 100-meter breaststroke in Paris. This is most likely what he will need to achieve to win a medal. The Italian and the Chinese are the youngest among the leaders and have the most room for improvement. Personally, I hope that the Italian will do the same as the Chinese in Fukuoka.
  5. The problem is that hockey is limited only to northern Italy. Thanks, but I think our relegation is inevitable. Of these 3 matches, 1 is against Slovakia, which means 1 defeat is certain. The only solution is 2 wins for 3 points against Poland and Slovenia, which will be difficult given our current mental form at this tournament. Relegation to 4th division will be a disaster, especially in this situation: https://thehockeynews.com/womens/international/pwhl-montreal-gm-daniele-sauvageau-has-role-with-team-italy-as-dib-world-championships-begin It seems that the Italian team did much better last year with an Italian coach Relegation to the 4th division means matches against teams such as Spain, Mexico and Taiwan... I don't know if it will make sense to keep the expensive Canadian staff for rematches against such weak teams. On the other hand, there are the Olympic Games in 2026 in Milano...
  6. Ok I understand. I don't expect Italy to be on the level with Slovakia or the Czech Republic in men's or women's but note that, for example, Hungary or the Netherlands in women's are at a decent level and I believe that Italy, with a good program, could reach their level. Even more so since 2019 we know that we will organize the winter games with Milan-Cortina in 2026. I believe that our defeats against Poland, UK and the weak women`s Latvia are a disgrace to our hockey. Unfortunately, the situation is not better for men either and recently we have been regularly losing to Poland and the UK. I don't know what your opinion is on this and what would need to be done to raise the level of Italian hockey?
  7. Italy in 2019 they were at the level of Slovakia and now they are losing to the UK and Latvia Total blasphemy. The idea of employing a Canadian coaching staff turned out to be a terrible decision and will most likely result in Italy being relegated to a lower division I also don't understand how Slovakia could lose to the Netherlands and fall lower division in 2023?
  8. I think Latvia is the weakest here. If Italy don't win tomorrow, they are in real danger of relegation Let's see if Slovakia is that strong or Latvia that weak? Even if Italy stays, it will be another wasted year. The team is not making any progress and today for the first time in history we lost against Great Britain The only chance for us to avoid embarrassment in Milan 2026 is the mass naturalization of several players from Canada and the USA, e.g. China in 2022. Apparently Laura Fortino will play for Italy from 2026 but I doubt whether 1 player will do anything changed in this stagnation.
  9. This Italian team is hopeless. It's getting worse every year. They employ trainers from Canada, but there are no results. There was time to create a good team for the 2026 Olympics, but nothing will come of it. The defeat against GBR is an embarrassment and the Italians will fight for no relegation here. Just 5-10 years ago the level of the Italian team was much higher. Italian junior teams have been achieving good results for several years, but this has no impact on the senior level
  10. It`s true that the current play-off system is brutal and not very fair. The old system with a match and a rematch was better.
  11. Wise and intelligent country leaders diversify their energy and gas/oil sources so as not to become dependent on anyone. Gas and oil can be imported from Russia, Arabia, the USA and Norway. It's just more expensive, but that's the price of independence.
  12. Israel remained neutral regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, from what I remember and did not send any weapons to Ukraine.
  13. Luis Figo knew when to leave and he was also a big star in Portugal, although obviously not as big as Ronaldo. Maybe Ronaldo wants to leave in 2024 after the Euro? Will it be about 20 years after his debut in the national team in 2004, also at Euro?
  14. In my opinion, Palestine has more allies in the Western world than Ukraine also because the Western Worlds is more afraid of Russia than of Israel.
  15. When is he going to leave the national team? I was sure that leaving for Saudi Arabia would mean the end of his appearances in the national team. I have a similar opinion that he is harming the team more than helping it but the coach should notice this and propose a dignified farewell.
  16. For me personally Poland have much better squad than Wales. In Wales arent`t the individuality that Gareth Bale in past time. Ukraine is currently on an upward trend - they put a lot of pressure on the Italians in the qualifying group.
  17. They should increase the number of teams to 32, then all of Europe will be playing :P For example, in 1992. 8 teams played at Euro in Sweden, of which 1 qualification was for the host... At that time it was more difficult to advance to the European Championship than now to the 1/4 of Euro
  18. https://paris.fie.org/?weapon=F&gender=F# Hungary has already qualified in the women's individual foil - Flora Pastor.
  19. Poland has been the most economically developing country in Europe in recent years. I am very surprised that they invest so little in professional sports.
  20. A very strange situation with this Ndolo... I would understand her if the German women's epee were very strong and she would not qualify for the team... This was the case, for example, with Boudiaf in France-Algeria and Moellhausen in Ita-Bra. And in Ndolo's case, she was the best German fencer. She could count on qualifying in the team + individual but now she will only have a chance for a medal in individual event. Secondly, the German federation is certainly better organized and financed than the Kenyan one. A very strange thing...
  21. The German women team in foil would probably have advanced to the Olympics if it weren't for Leonie Ebert's serious injury, while the men's foil is going through a huge crisis, just like the entire epee. The only real chance was the saber men team but France's progress closed the door to Paris for them. On the other hand, let us remember the absence of Russia... If it were not miss of Russia's participation in the qualifications, we would probably not have seen the Italian men's and women's saber teams in Paris. The level in the world is going up very much and it is becoming more and more difficult to compete and win medals. Once upon a time, only Europe and southern Asia mattered: Jap, Kor, Chn + USA in women's saber.
  22. I remember the great German foil fencer: Peter Joppich, who at the beginning of the 21st century regularly defeated Italian fencers in the decisive stages of the World Championships. Olympic champion in 2008 there was also another German in the foil - Kleibrink. German women foil fencers were also dangerous rivals to Vezzali and Trillini at that time: Anja Muller, Sabine Bau etc. The German epee historical was also always strong. The only weapons where German have never been among the leaders is women's saber - the youngest competition.
  23. Ukraine was a bit disappointed in men's epee. A few years ago this team was very strong. Fortunately, the girls in epee and saber did very well.
  24. Berre is perfect for the team but in individual event I would choose someone else. However, while we have an excess of crops in foil and epee in women's and men's saber it is difficult to assemble the entire squad: in men's there are missing of 3 fencer for team and the girls' squad is even but there is no individuality. It looks like the women won't go to Paris - Rosella Gregorio. There are three certainties in the women's foil: Errigo, Volpi and Favaretto. The question is, who's 4 on the team? Looking at the ranking it should be Batini but Cerioni prefer Palumbo in the team more often.
