  1. Haha, I was more referring to someone who has a story similar to his, How he never had even seen an Olympic sized swimming pool before but went on to compete and even win a heat, it was and still is a crazy story. Im now interested if there would be someone like that competing in the swimming in Paris šŸ§
  2. Absolute clown decision to choose a washed Dellavedova over Thybulle, who is one of the best on defence around No medal for Aus this time
  3. Perez/Ebden is likely for they are currently competing at Wimbledon as the no1 seed so Iā€™d be surprised if not selected
  4. I will be staying up until 7am every night to watch everything šŸ¤©
  5. What a joke that is, someone with so much potential, why not give him the experience of a first Olympics? Oh yeah letā€™s instead pick McSweyn who inevitably isnā€™t gonna do anything or get any better Awful decision
  6. The first night is going to be very telling, as if we win 3 golds (w400f m400f and w4x100) and realistically like a bronze in the m4x100 then the chance for us to top the tally is on. Honestly the menā€™s 400 free situation is so frustrating as when I heard hafnaoui wasnā€™t competing I was thinking surely we will cruise to it, but unfortunately the German guy had other plans and now neither short or winnington is going to be favourite heading in
  7. Iā€™ve got 5 locks for gold for Australia Woman's 4x100 free Woman's 4x200 free Woman's 200 free Mckeown inevitably winning at least 1 of her 3 strong events Wearn ICLA7 sailing
  8. I was expecting Perez/Ebden to be selected in mixed doubles, as at Roland Garros a few weeks back they were ranked no1 seed but lost in the third round. Maybe they will be selected later on Storm hunters injury was unfortunate
  9. Tennis Selection Menā€™s Singles Alex Di Minaur, Alexei Popyrin, Chris Oā€™Connell, Rinky Hijikata Womanā€™s Singles Ajila Tomljanovic Menā€™s Doubles Matthew Ebden & John Perrs Alexei Popyrin & Alex Di Minaur Womanā€™s Doubles Ellen Perez & Daria Saville
  10. Tennis Selection Menā€™s Singles Alex Di Minaur, Alexei Popyrin, Chris Oā€™Connell, Rinky Hijikata Womanā€™s Singles Ajila Tomljanovic Menā€™s Doubles Matthew Ebden & John Perrs Alexei Popyrin & Alex Di Minaur Womanā€™s Doubles Ellen Perez & Daria Saville No mixed doubles it appears Cant really expect much in terms of medals as itā€™s clay which we are crap at
  11. Thatā€™s probably a just as good replacement, I just hope we go better than the solitary bronze in Tokyo, they are much better than that
  12. Iā€™m guessing they shouldā€™ve held the trials at SOPAC then? Which is newer Even the southport pool seemed to be faster but its outdoors so that wouldnā€™t suit trials, but those times in April were crazy considering no one was tapered
  13. Is there an actual such thing as slow pools and fast pools? Like I know in the velodrome thatā€™s a thing but in swimming? That would be interesting.
  14. And I think there is inevitably going to be a disappointing result for us, such as mcintosh surprising Titmus or no gold in the w100free. I guarantee at every Olympics in swimming there has been at least 1 massive disappointment for us, such as w4x200 relay in Tokyo. At least there is no way we could do as bad as rio or London, and thank god for that šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
  15. I think with Kaylee itā€™s probably smart heading in to assume that she doesn't win least 1 of her backstroke events to smith, probably 100. If she just goes on to successfully defend both that would honestly be crazy as with Aus only a few swimmers have ever done that. At this games she could become our greatest ever swimmer if she wins all 3 events
  16. Ah yes Dressel didnā€™t even qualify for 100 free what was I thinking šŸ˜‚. But I did have him on my mind considering those 3 gold he won in Tokyo that I think the US will likely not defend. 100m free as you mentioned, 50m free which is assumed to be between McEvoy and proud, and then 100m butterfly, which will be his best chance but no guarantee with the likes of Grousset and milak then thereā€™s also the 400im which Kalisz won in Tokyo but surely Marchand will be the strong favourite over foster. Also Finke wouldnā€™t be a lock in the 800 so thatā€™s around 4 golds that I could see them not defending, whereas for us Iā€™ve got 3 (w50), womanā€™s medley and Zsc but 2 very strong replacements in 4x200f and 200im. It really opens the door
  17. Well thatā€™s a shame. Does that mean during the parade of nations countries wonā€™t be getting recognised individually but rather in groups? I always liked the traditional way of how they did it, each country no matter how small gets the spotlight during the ceremony
  18. As for the canoeing Iā€™ve got Fox winning K1 and C1, but not medalling in cross. This is very possible as she has done this double at world cups before, but Olympics is obviously different ball game.
  19. Yeah I know I probably should be setting my expectations lower šŸ˜‚. Without a doubt swimming is gonna make or break it all. Iā€™ve gone with womanā€™s 3x3 basketball getting a bronze as they are apparently ranked well and actually qualified this time, whilst I donā€™t think the boomers will get a medal this time around. I also hope for the gold in surfing due to Australiaā€™s good past performances at the venue in Tahiti. I was thinking maybe with Jack Robinson. As for defeating the US in swimming it can for sure happen if we reach that mark, but itā€™s gonna be close such as Kaylee needing to win all 3 of her races, and hoping for things such as pan beating Dressel and whatnot.
  20. Sport Gold Silver Bronze Athletics 1 1 2 3X3 Basketball 1 Canoe Slalom 2 Canoe Sprint 1 1 BMX Freestyle 1 BMX Racing 1 Cycling Road 1 Cycling Track 1 1 1 Diving 2 1 Equestrian 1 Football 1 Hockey 1 Judo 1 Rowing 2 3 Rugby Sevens 1 Sailing 1 1 Shooting 1 Skateboarding 1 1 Surfing 1 1 Swimming 9 8 5 Weightlifting 1 Total 19 18 21 Total Medals: 58 Maybe I am too ambitious But if our swimming team gets to that 8-10 gold mark once again then it is VERY possible for us to break that 17 gold record. Outside of swimming we have a good amount of chances, more than many would think. But swimming is crucial for setting up the second week. I also cannot see a gold in rowing but canoeing will hopefully replace that.
  21. Letā€™s see how you get on against India first šŸ¤ If you win then fair play
  22. We are giving someone else a go at winning a ICC tournament for once šŸ˜‰
