  1. We also have a law of protected events in free tv (everything that involves an argentina national team of any sport), but the new government will scrap it
  2. Decent performance of the argentines (though Cabrera had a nightmare last 4 holes...). I hope Cabrera climbs rankings and gets our 2nd olympic quota instead of Gomez, since I think Cabrera is better despite inconsistency.
  3. No, it's goal difference in the matches played between the tied teams.
  4. Best: 70s/80s Worst: 2000 onwards.
  5. Women's Pan American Junior Championship 7th Place Match: Mexico 1 (4) - 1 (3) Barbados 5th Place Match: Uruguay 9 - 1 Trinidad and Tobago Bronze Medal Match: Canada 0 - 3 Chile Gold Medal Match: Argentina 6 - 0 USA ARGENTINA 7th Title (out of 8 editions) 63 goals scored, 0 received
  6. Neymar is already confirmed to play (and because of that he had to opt out from the Copa America, to please Barcelona). The other two I don't know, but I think they have like 10% chance to play since both are in the Euro.
  7. Sorry If I seemed aggresive. Yes, Messi is an unrealistic pick. There is no way a club like Barcelona will release their star player for TWO summer tournaments. Much less if one of them isn't in the FIFA calendar. (anyway in his case doesn't matter because the coach already confirmed he won't play the olympics).
  8. I agree, but I wrote "isn't always true".
  9. 1) many users, when the draw came in the old forum everyone was sure that Poland and Macedonia were unquestionably going to get the tickets. 2) I don't agree that Macedonia is weaker than those specific nations you mentioned (results of mid-level european handball teams seem to vary a lot with each tournament), but it isn't important to my point. I just criticize the eurocentric prejudice that made everyone predict Macedonia when Tunisia has a lot of players based in european clubs and has produced great results in the past.
  10. Give me right now your list of what you consider your 18 best U23 players, so you don't make your usual excuses later about "we were missing x, y or z" if you lose. Include if you wish the 3 overage players, but realistic picks (not something like "Muller, Gundogan and Boateng", which isn't realistic).
  11. One more lesson for totallympics euro-users that "europe > everything else" isn't always true.
  12. There is no country that will participate in all 7 team sports (or 8 if you consider beach volleyball another team sport). Mostly because USA, China, Japan and Australia all happen to suck at handball PS: Except for host Brazil, obviously.
  13. I only have one wish: be in group D (away, away from Brazil reach, like in the world cup ).
  14. I know Algeria are not easy, but I'd take them over Colombia or Portugal. Denmark and you is kind of 50/50 though.
  15. wtf are these pots? we could get a group with Iraq, Fiji and Algeria or a group with Nigeria, Portugal and Germany.
  16. I forgot to ask this the other day: has it happened before at the olympics that father and son compete in the same olympics? because in our team there is Santiago Lange (Nacra) and his two sons Yago and Klaus (49er). I would think only in shooting, equestrian or sailing this is possible.
  17. I was going to say the same as bestmen. D option would be fantastic for an Argentina olympics
  18. Strongly cheering against Spain just so our traitor player doesn't play the olympics.
  19. I know that, I'm just counting all the quota we have, even if provisional. I will remove them if at the end they are rejected. And for me it's not a stupid decision, I'm tired of sending a bunch of people that end in last place or abandon the race. We should have harder standars in all "mark" sports, if it were up to me.
  20. If it's of any consolation, I think this is the most talented Junior team of all our history. I predict at least 3 of these players will be in olympic squad.
  21. I was already opening the champagne bottle.... We can never win a medal
  22. I already said this in the old forum, but I'm quite confident Brazil will win at least 10 golds. - at least 3 volleyball events - 1 swimming (possibly the women marathon) - 1 Sailing (host always seems to win at least 1) - at least 2 in Judo - at least 1 in Boxing (maybe more, this ALWAYS happens in boxing) - 1 Men's Football (something can happen, but they will have the most complete team for sure) - 1 or 2 between: Gymnastics, Canoeing Sprint, Modern Pentathlon, Tennis Doubles, Shooting, Athletics
  23. Very strong rumors that the 3 overage players for the olympics will be Geronimo Rulli (GK, Real Sociedad), Ramiro Funes Mori (CB, Everton) and Mateo Musacchio (CB, Villarreal). I agree that we needed two defenders since it's the weakest line of our U23 team. I would have chosen a midfielder instead of a goalie though, but it's not that bad. I will make today my prediction for the 18 player list (not what I would pick, it's what I think the coach will select) let's see how many I get right at the end this list is assuming all the clubs agree to release the players however:
  24. BTW Bautista shouldn't be confused with his younger brother Francisco, who won gold in Nanjing and a bunch of windsurf youth world ch. medals.
