I was able to log in and see that I do have a slot...but it's not until next Wednesday the 15th...  Based on how things went this week, I'm not too hopeful for getting cheap tickets.  I need to see if wifey has an earlier slot.

Edit: Hers starts this coming Friday the 10th, and miraculously it's exactly when I have free time at work.  Much better odds!

If waiting is hard, I used this link to log into my account to see if I had a time slot for Drop 1.  (My wife and I both got one...hers starts on the second day, but mine not until the seventh day.)

We got the cheapest available fencing final tickets and those were $376.  The athletics morning session was $220, and I am pretty sure we got the cheapest available.  Mind you, there were other ticket prices below these but they are always the first to go.

Good luck tomorrow (or in the days ahead).   It will be very interesting to see how many new tickets will be released.  There HAS to be additional seats available.

As for the secondary market, it's a great question but i don't see why they would restrict somebody at that point.

By the way, although people around here did get the "sorry, you're out" emails, they all came the first day.  Everybody who signed up, and did not get that bad email the first day, eventually got in.

So, all in all we did ok, given the constraints of both budget and access.  We definitely got lucky in some cases.   Eleven sessions, including four medal sessions.  I don't know that we will keep all of them, or maybe get even more, once the secondary market opens, but we sure have a lot to look forward to.

My wife's email came through, and we had a second window today.  We bought 2 tix each for equestrian (dressage final), fencing (final), rugby (womens prelim). archery (mixed team prelim), athletics (morning prelim), and badminton (prelim).  Now we just need a bank loan to feed ourselves in the meantime.  I am sort of glad we had a limit.

Absolutely.  The person that we are pooling tickets with still hasn't heard anything about being in or out of the drops, so we are hopeful that we will have access to another drop and have some luck with the sports that we didn't get.  But you definitely have to move fast.

Though we are quite happy with the tickets we got, I would hate to admit how much we paid to get some of them.  The only opening ceremony tickets that were left by the time we got there (literally 2 minutes after the window opened) were $2600.  I love the Olympics but that was a little much.

The LA28 X account posted that events technically aren’t “sold out”. They just haven’t released the full batch of tickets for that event yet. So gymnastics/ceremony tickets could be available in future ticket drops.

Well it's a dog-eat-dog world out there.  We got 2 tix for women's volleyball final, 2 for preliminary round of mens platform diving, and 4 for a beach volleyball preliminary session, 4 for mens basketball prelim doubleheader and  two for a prelim women's football match.  Opening ceremonies were sold out, as were gymnastics finals, and a lot more with only the very very expensive tix remaining.

Lots of bugs and glitches too.  Took three tries to get it right.

@clemsonbeav I will get to your pricing questions shortly.
  11. Thanks
esube got a reaction from clemsonbeav in LA28 Tickets, Trips & Experiences
For each event, there are two ways of answering the ticket price question.  There is the overall range of prices, and the tickets that are available now.  When your window opens, there may be more availability than what I am seeing now.  But availability also diminshed rapidly as I was making my purchases.  But FWIW, here are the overall ranges, bearing in mind that the bottom tiers are all sold out, at least for the time being.
  12. Thanks

The email said we would get another message today with our link to the window, maybe that has a pricing preview.  Regardless, I will find your pricing info as best I can.  If they don't shut us out after we buy our 12 tickets then I can gather this up at my leisure, so no problem.

@esube When your window opens up, obviously focus on what you need to do, but if you were able to capture some info (either screenshots or whatever), there are some events I'm curious about regarding prices.

(I've also seen on Reddit that some people have been able to see pricing 24 hours ahead of their timeslot somehow.)

CLB03 (Women's Boulder Semifinals) is the one that's top of my list. (So if you could only do one, that would be it)

Others that I have my eye on:
    DIV09 (Diving Men's 10m Prelims)
    VBV22 or 23 (Beach Volleyball morning/evening sessions)
BKB36 (Women's Basketball Semis - good chance of featuring Team USA, I think)
SWA03 or 04 (Artistic Swimming team Rounds 1 or 2)
    SWM15 (Swimming heats)
ATH11 (Track and Field morning session)
    BK310 (3x3 prelims)
    SKB02 (Men's Street Skateboarding Prelims)
MPN01 or 02 (Modern Pentathlon Men or Women's Semifinal)
    Any of the Volleyball prelims
Any of the Water Polo prelims

Yeah we are definitely the best at funding women's sports at that all started at the NCAA level after Title IX.

That was probably the most impactful piece of legislation that has ever passed related to sports.

USA has and will continue to push boundaries in women's sport like no other nation.

I don't a comprehensive answer but my memory is that there were two sports in Paris 2024 where US men outdid the women, and a bit surprisingly at that:  Water polo, where the men got the bronze and women did not make the podium, upending years of being a dominant power;  and Rowing, where the Mens 4 dominated the field and the Mens 8 got a bronze, and again the women were shut out.  Up to 2024 I think the women's crews consistently out-medaled the men.

As far as why, I think, yeah, that other countries don't fund womens sports as seriously.

I am so excited.  Must temper this with the recognition that a lot of stuff that I want will be sold out already/

Just noticed that the Mixed 4x100m is all within one session, similar to the W 100m.  (Day 3 Afternoon) Round 1 and Finals are just 85 minutes apart.  (Seems to only benefit those nations that have huge depth and can sub out runners.)

We got another update to the ticket buying process.    It was known already that each email would be limited to 12 tickets in the upcoming drops, but we now learn that football is not included in that limit, and we will be able to purchase up to 12 extra tickets for that sport.    As we live halfway between downtown LA and downtown San Diego we will definitely get some seats for the July 11 matches in SD.

But that's assuming we get a slot in this first draw.  Not even that is guaranteed.   We find out sometime between March 31 and April 6.  Draws open up on April 8.

Also the in-house secondary market will not open up until early 2027.

Approximate order of medals being awarded.  I think there is at least one error, based on a calculation I did, but I'm too lazy right now to look for it.    This is good enough.

@Josh Now just use the Excel files and filter/sort by day to get the daily schedules.

@Kerkun could you post the v.3 Excel file?  I thought I could download it from the site, but it's not letting me.
