  1. They wanted a slam-bang finish to night 1 (and USA gold perhaps), and the men's 10K just wasn't going to cut it.
  2. Paradoxically, since I live in the Los Angeles area, I have to balance the TV plan with the plan to actually go to a ton of events. I doubt I will sleep much.
  3. Rugby should not start this early, regardless. Nobody should be eliminated from medal contention before the opening ceremony, and yet most rugby teams were/will be.
  4. I am so excited for this. @clemsonbeav, @rafalgorka this is what we live for.
  5. While my head was turned, finally the mountain bike venue was announced: https://www.singletracks.com/mtb-trails/the-2028-olympic-mountain-bike-course-will-be-located-at-industry-hills/ This is much closer to downtown LA than Bonelli park (the previously presumed location) would be. I don't know this particular location, but it is a very hilly area generally so could be a good choice.
  6. An amazing achievement!!! More kudos @clemsonbeav. As for the more detailed schedules, in looking back at my own versions from Paris, the events schedule was in place by August of 2022 (and it had events included). I went to the federation websites to get the within-event timings (e.g. on the Athletics Day 1 schedule, what was the start time of the M 10000 race). These were released gradually, through early 2023. (Rowing, Athletics, Swimming, Cycling, maybe others) The qualification pairings of the team sports went on through the first half of 2024, from January (Hockey) through June (Men's basketball). It was pretty unusual for even this bare-bones schedule to be released this early.
  7. I do not want to take away from this great achievement, with a color scheme that beats my homemade one by a mile, but... the start and finish times are only to the nearest half hour. When I did this in MS Word, I was able to vertically split the cells to allow times to be displayed to the nearest 15 minutes. I don't think it is possible to do this in Excel, but maybe there is a way?
  8. This is so great. Thanks @clemsonbeav. I wish I had thought of using AI for this, even with all the setup it no doubt saved time over doing it by hand. You are to be congratulated.
  9. It does not add very much, but it has the start and (scheduled!) finish times, side by side, so that you can tell what events are on at the same time, and so how many devices you need to watch all the things you want to watch. Plus colors! Mostly it's just fun to put it together.
  10. At the request of absolutely nobody, here is a daily schedule with events posted side by side. I find this format useful for putting together my obsessive TV/streaming schedule. Note that I have sorted them by surface, so that (for example) big air skiing and big air snowboarding are both listed under BA. Corrections very welcome!! thanks. Schedule 2026 Olympics 2.0.docx
  11. Thank you for the shout-out @rafalgorka! I just finished this format for the 2026 games, so I should go post it there. Though I find the Winter Olympics relatively tedious. Every sport is just sliding around on something! Where are the horses? The bicycles? The boats?
  12. The Peacock theater, in downtown LA, home of weightlifting and boxing's early rounds, is named after NBC's Peacock streaming service. Presumably because of NBC's massive investment in the games, IOC was already letting this venue keep its corporate name. So it is not a big leap to allow other corporate naming. The temporary cricket site will be known as the Tata Cricket Ground. You read it here first.
  13. The 8+ is the glamour event and should end the regatta, not start it!
  14. And isn't a medal on the third day of rowing a little quick? In previous games the first medals were on day 5.
  15. 7/27 : Two streams going Pacific Time: 4-6:30 am Equestrian Eventing Dressage 5:30-9:30 am Cycling Time Trials 6:30 - 8am Water Polo GRE v USA 8-10am Skateboarding Finals 10 - 11:30 Rugby Finals 10 - 11:30 Football USA -NZL (if it's close will delay start of Fencing stream to 12) 11:30 - 13:30 Swimming Finals 11:30 - 13:30 Fencing Finals 13:30 - 15:00 Beach Volleyball 13:30- ? Surfing ? Replays of Diving, Shooting, Judo finals and whatever else seems interesting
  16. Hi, Attached is a daily schedule of Paris 2024 events. I don't think this exists in this form anywhere else but I haven't been on the forum much in the past few months. I posted a preliminary version about a year ago. This version is updated to include opening round pairings in the major team sports and additional timings for medal events. I find this useful to help guide my TV streaming each day. I hope you find it useful too. It was fun to put together. Schedule 2024 Olympics3.4.docx
  17. It's funny, I google "olympic schedule 2024" or some variant a couple of times a week to see if there are updates, and this has never come up! So thanks! Update coming!
  18. A preliminary ticket website has been released in case you haven't seen it. https://tickets.paris2024.org/obj/media/FR-Paris2024/ticket-prices.pdf It actually omits most of the finals. I think they must be saving those for the big booking agencies. I haven't gone over it too much but one new piece of information that was not, I think, previously known is that the indoor volleyball format will be men and women on alternating days with men going first. Time to make version 2.0 of my schedule, incorporating @rafalgorka's catches of my errors.
  19. Thanks for the shoutout @rafalgorka! This will be updated when the updates to the schedule are announced, along with your well-spotted corrections!
  20. Go Dodgers!
  21. Excellent eyes, thank you @rafalgorka.Keep them coming. There is additional info in the volleyball schedule that needs to be inserted, too.
  22. Thank you @rafalgorka! It is rather fun to do. There will definitely be additions and changes, including finalizing the basketball and volleyball schedules. Some entries for these sports are assumptions based on past schedules.
  23. Hi everybody, First time poster, long time lurker on this forum. I attach a hour-by-hour all-sports schedule for 2024 that I have prepared (rounded to the nearest quarter-hour). Lots of changes and clarifications to come, of course, many of which have been subjects in this topic. Hope you find this useful. Start planning your viewing now! Corrections and updates welcome! esube 2024_olympics_schedule.pdf
