  1. McLaren has pulled out of the Australian GP after one of its team members tested positive for COVID. First free practice starts in 13 hours. I just don't see them cancelling the whole event though,
  2. The health minister said he expects the number to rise to 1,000 within the next 7 days already...
  3. No surprise, the Ski Flying WCh in Planica are rumoured to be cancelled as well. I read about this first and thought that means Kranjska Gora is screwed. Sure enough...
  4. Olympic Games is the biggest shark in the pool. Everyone else has to move for that. 1972 hostage crisis didn't hurt the Olympics credibility, several boycotts didn't hurt it either and you think a coronavirus delay hurts it? No frickin' way! Since even USA wants to host the Olympics again (hello 2028) then it's all fine and dandy with its credibility IMO
  5. All these events would be booted out for the Olympics, World Games in USA in a different month than July? That's a DOA since July is the only month where only baseball remains a viable competition. WG would be totally irrelevant during NBA playoffs or the football season.
  6. Unless Livio Magoni discovers another plot by the American course setters!
  7. Whatever. Hold off your praise for next season and let's see if Brignone can beat Shiffrin without an entire month of handicap like this season
  8. It's bullshit and you know it. It's the same as Frida Hansdotter winning the 2016 slalom globe despite the fact she lost to Shiffrin in every single slalom they competed together that season Circumstances favored Brignone and she did enough to hold off Vlhova who in turn couldn't even overhaul Shiffrin's overall points despite Shiffrin missing a whole month. Hell, Shiffrin still had more wins and podiums than Brignone this season
  9. I didn't realize the parallel crap gets its own globe until I read your post This season has been a total shitshow, probably the worst I can ever remember since I started alpine skiing almost 30 years ago. Obviously the Bansko 'downhill' takes the cake for the worst single race of them all.
  10. Joanna Jakiela takes bronze in the individual (despite three misses). Both the gold & silver medallists shot 20/20.
  11. Right, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Volleyball World Champs would be screwed by this. No way they postpone SOG by two full years. They're lucky enough the Qatar World Cup will be held in December already. This means football (soccer) season will start early and would overlap with the SOG if they are moved to 2022.
  12. The Mugello round is scheduled for May 31st. That's the big deadline test. Misano is held in September so under no immediate threat right now.
  13. At this race we'll be having MotoGP races in December tbh. In two months time we should have a better picture whether the virus has stopped spreading.
  14. Back on topic, the FIM MotoGP rounds have been postponed, Austin to November 15th and Argentina to November 22nd. This means the next round won't be held until May 3rd in Jerez (if that doesn't get postponed later on).
  15. They put the entire Italy on lockdown. If that's not mass hysteria then what is? Compared to Spanish flu pandemic, this coronavrius outbreak is a joke. Moreover it seems to affect older people the most. They're closing schools even though children & teenagers are basically the least infected part of the population. Yeah, no mass hysteria alright
  16. You can listen to mass hysteria morons of this world instead. They are talking loud enough
  17. People don't want to hear about anything, they just want to cancel everything and hide in their basements hoping the coronavirus goes away. Classic mass hysteria BS. I don't have to prove anything about a health issue on a sports forum Plus mass hysteria swamping the world is one for psychology which doesn't really fit the sports criteria either. We've seen pandemic disease cause panic and throw common sense out of the window before. Good thing there was no TV and internet during the Spanish flu pandemic 100 years ago
  18. I'm entitled to a personal opinion so spare me the "evdience" talk. It's obviously mass hysteria down in Italy so nobody wants to hear about any evidence either
  19. France - just like Italy - is another country that pretended measles & rubella are no longer a dangerous disease. They paid a price for their ignorance IMO. Mass hysteria in France & Italy shouldn't be measured in the same way to a country like Japan IMO.
  20. Well, some events at WOG 2018 weren't sold out by any means, it's not like Japan would suffer from the same fate but it's still a long journey for majority of the world. You can't travel to Japan by land so if the audience is sold out let's say below 80% that would still be a good result all things considered. You're not making profit from hosting the Games itself, it's more of a publicity feature. Maybe it works in a country which is a general sporting powerhouse like USA but I bet LA could still lose money in 2028 as well.
  21. Every sport has some sort of official ranking. They would just use that to select the athletes/nations instead of head-to-head qualifying competition. I see no problem here.
  22. If the virus outbreak in China decreases by numbers in March one can argue it will happen the same in Japan? And therefore in May we won't be talking about OG being postponed IMO. There's a LOT of money involved in the Games so it's much more difficult to cancel them unlike some random gymnastics or cycling events elsewhere.
  23. Well, the ski jumping Raw Air in Norway is going on strong right now so the only way biathlon in Oslo gets cancelled is to protect JTB and Eckhoff IF they lead the World Cup after Kontiolahti
  24. Having no spectators in the stands won't be a problem in Polish sport. This has been a way to "fight" hooliganism for years and we've played a ton of football games with empty stands before. So obviously nobody cares there will be no fans in hockey, volleyball or handball games either if that's neccessary
  25. Hiding your head in the sand and pretending that solves the problem isn't sane by any means. The anti-vaccination movement has done more damage than anything else to prevent learning from the past pandemic disease outbreaks. Not to mention the only thing humanity leans from history is that it doesn't learn from the history. Italy has had one of the lowest vaccination rates in Europe before coronavirus and now it's the most affected country in Europe. Coincidence? Italy didn't believe measles or rubella are real threat anymore, well, do you think they believe COVID is a real threat now? This outbreak will carry a lot of positives once it's contained. The anti-vaccination morons will have a hard time explaining that contagious diseases don't exist anymore so nobody needs a vaccination
