  1. Lautaro Martinez scores in the 112th minute!
  2. Messi goes off injured in 66th minute. Looked hampered all game tbh.
  3. He wanted to focus on Euro only: https://www.goal.com/en/lists/lamine-yamal-euro-2024-and-olympics-barcelona/blta0a6403890f2ac0a#cs39cb727b801c06a1
  4. You don't postpone football matches for this. Overall a colossal failure by the organizers. The 2026 World Cup shapes up to be a total downgrade to the 1994 tournament if this happens again.
  5. Final overall standings. Damn Scotland denied us the last place
  6. Yeah, the women's 100H NR is the lesser known former WR from Grażyna Rabsztyn (currently 44 years and 2 days old).
  7. I still remember when "Seven Nation Army" used to be the anthem. And La Copa de la Vida which was way better
  8. They've done it! Best team of the tournament won! The legend of Yamal & Williams begins at super star level. Southgate comes 2nd again
  9. Classic 0:0 shitfest. Maybe an own goal will decide this
  10. Jan Zieliński & Hsieh Su-Wei won the mixed title, their second GS of the season after Australian Open
  11. Former NFL player Jacoby Jones passed away at the age of 40. Holds the Super Bowl record for longest kick-off return touchdown (109 yards in 2012 season).
  12. Yeah and she also beat Jones in the AO girls final. She confirmed this is her last junior event so time to make some noise in WTA. While being this tall and a southpaw she can prove a tricky out on the big stage and perhaps she gets noticed by some wider audience if she gets the results. I wouldn't bet against that right now. Meanwhile Carlos Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic 6-2 6-2 7-6(4) in the men's final.
  13. Renata Jamrichova wins the Wimbledon Girls title 6-3 6-4 over Emerson Jones @hckošice
  14. The Canadian Sesame Street is also probably sponsored by number 4
  15. I suppose soccer is one sport where Canada hasn't finished 4th yet? And they might avoid the popular trend
  16. It's been a while since someone shot at US President so it was about time given it's the gun-happy country.
  17. Of course. She's the most popular Polish athlete not named Robert Lewandowski. So all the media hype will be on her gold medal quest in Paris. Anything less than gold will be a national tragedy by all accounts
  18. I can relate to late 80s and early 90s and back then people realized we are good in certain less popular sports like wrestling or judo and we could bring in some medals. Hell, even weightlifting used to be quite good for us too. But right now the "people aka fans" only follow football, volleyball and athletics here on a wider basis. Swimming has gone down the rank since Otylia Jędrzejczak retired and we were quite bad for some years before doing slightly better again. However our historically medal-worthy sports like wrestling, judo or boxing have collapsed (everyone's doing MMA now) weightlifting is gone too and allthough rowing and canoeing also gave us quite a haul historically they were always even less popular than combat sports. Since the Kucharski/Sycz gold medal double and the quadruple sculls in Beijing there is next to zero noise there with the exception being Walczykiewicz in sprint canoeining. Like I said before, Naja has 4 medals from three Olympics and nobody here even knows what she looks like.
  19. Nobody follows niche sports like rowing or canoeing here except the Olympics where we can suddenly win some medals. Someone like Karolina Naja has 4 Olympic medals and nobody would recognize her on the street in Poland
  20. It's kinda medium compared to some of the previous years. Nobody wants to really hype the volleyball chances since we got burned at the OG so many times lately media don't even try to spin "this time it will be different" shtick. Also our athletics has bounced off the Father Time wall. Except Kaczmarek most of our athletes are basically over the hill and even hammer doesn't look like getting us a gold medal. Overall we might fail to win double digit medals for the first time since 1956 and everyone kinda expects it.
  21. Barbora Krejcikova wins the women's final 6-2 2-6 6-4 over Jasmine Paolini. Still it's a huge upset given Krejcikova's poor season and the injury troubles she had. The draw collapsed in the early rounds alas she beat the big favorite Rybakina in SF so there is that. Paolini is set to become the next Jabeur at this rate.
  22. Joe Biden just introduced Zelensky as President Putin. It's over. The rumbling old man is literally digging his own grave. Just how more hits can the Democrats take?
  23. Barbora Krejcikova beat Elena Rybakina in three sets in the second SF. A complete random GS final line-up then. Most casual Wimbledon fans probably don't even know who the finalists are
