Here's the video if anyone is interested:

That's what happens in a sport where counter-attacks are allowed to score points. It's not fencing when right of attack matters.

Klimkait wins bronze in golden score. She was in control for most of the fight.

Yoshida wins bronze in the 57 kg. That was one-sided.

I have a feeling Velikaya will not take a third individual silver well
Can Pozdniakova repeat her father's success?

And those children who did tune in would have seen men falling down the staircase without helmets on. Fantastic role models, no doubt.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that too. Yeah, just a complete mishit by IOC when trying to attract new fanbase for whatever reason. I don't see this event having any sort of staying power since in Paris we'll probably see more 13 year old kids.

Meh, I feel like when you have the world number 1 and 2 in an event coming away with the bronze is sort of a failure.
TBH the selection policy from Judo Canada was insane and there are some people there who need to answer for it. I'm not really quibbling who they picked, but doing it based on the world championships a month and a half before the Olympics was absolutely stupid.
They probably knew the decision would be unpopular no matter whom they chose so they tried to delay it until the last possible moment. I can understand that logic.

I don't hear a lot of positives about the skateboarding. Hey, who ever thought that adults actually will NOT get excited with random kids competing at the Olympics. I'm sure those medals won by 13 year olds look record-breaking on paper but why give this event an Olympic status? How many 14-15 year olds kids over the world will actually turn on the TV to specifically watch this? Because it sure looks like the adults have better things to follow at the Games.
Coyping of the slopestyle in summer version doesn't work for one reason. At the winter Games usually the same nations dominate the events. At the summer games every nation has something to cheer for w/o having to add anything new. IOC struck out swinging with the skateboarding, I wonder how long appeasing of the 13 year old kids lasts?

Nora Gjakova in the final.
Yoshida is the first
who underperforms.

Yes, I consider Kowalczyk as our best judoka here and I'd be shocked if someone else equals her result
-
Tough loss for Kowalczyk in golden score. 7th place it is.
-
Julia Kowalczyk will be in the repechages despite having a horrendous draw. That's a small success already, she beat Karakas & Monteiro and lost to Klimkait.

83-76.
This second ass US team really needs to be stopped hyping as runaway favorites by default.

Something is wrong with this American team.
I remember getting excited for the "American" subdivision in Rio. I made space on schedule and it was worth it.
This time I gladly bailed after a few meh performances from them.
This is why having someone so dominant as Biles covers the lack of depth problem. This "team" is Biles and bunch of sidekicks. If USA don't develop another world class gymnast soon they will be up for a rude awakening in Paris (I presume Biles won't go there anymore). The US men have tailed off in recent years and women might be heading down the same path since gymnastics as a sport got a lot of bad press after the Nassar scandal. I imagine not many parents would like to send their kids on the gymnastics grind these days - far less than 15-20 years ago IMO.
-
This is the post-Dream Team era reality. USA won't win every game by 25 points fielding mostly second-tier players anymore.

I have a feeling taekwondo is a young man's sport? Some real youngsters winning medals in this event.

wins it with 6 seconds left!
