  1. I know nothing about Persian textile patterns or textile patterns in general for that matter. I would like to use one of my lifelines and switch out this question with another. A 50-50 wouldn't help me in this case and I would like to save my expert for later.
  2. As it goes with so many things, Greece and Cyprus are very close connected and in this case also. As the highest point in Cyprus is also named Mount Olympus just like its Greek counterpart. Two different mountains/points, but same name. D is my answer.
  3. Now it's time for me to remember back at my high school time where I had Spanish for 3 years. I have unfortunately mostly forgotten how to speak it. Can still read and understand a bit. I'm pretty sure it's A, Azul. I will save mrv86 expertise for later.
  4. Probably one of the coolest name of any sports athlete. C, Apolo Anton Ohno. What an athlete he was.
  5. Teenage years is defined as I know from the age of 13-19. But for many you would believe it starts earlier and for some it continues for a very long time after turning 19 years old. C is my answer.
  6. When I was about 8 I got a big geography with all the countries of the world, at that time, I learned all the countries, their capitals and flags. I can still recall most of it and European capitals are just donw my alley. C, Bratislava, is the capital of Slovakia. I bet hckosice would have loved this question
  7. I would go with D, carpet, in this case.
  8. I'm glad to be back in the hot seat. Hopefully with similar succes as last time. 3 lifelines, please, and I pick number 5.
  9. @Quasit I would like to give it a second try.
  10. I know the headline of the poll is asking that question and it would logically include a yes and no option. However the purpose of this poll is mostly to determine and for me to see if there is an interest in a swimming ECH prediction contest. For those interested they can pick one of the options in the poll and, as I write, those who don't intend to participate I would like not to pick any of the options. A poll is an easy way for me to see if there is a sufficient amount of interest compared to the time I had to invest in preparing for such a contest.
  11. Some of you may have noticed that the women's ice hockey world championship has been postponed, again. As this championship now has been moved, it gives room for a possible prediction contest before the men's ice hockey world championship begins later in May. The European Aquatics Championships are scheduled to be held in this period and therefore I would like to ask you Totallympians if you would be interested in such a contest? You should only pick one of the options if you intend to participate in the contest, otherwise I would prefer you didn't pick any of them.
  12. Tomorrow, both Freilich in men's epee and Pustilnik in women's foil have good/decent chances to take a spot. Freilich is the second highest-placed fencer according to the ranking in his weapon and Pustilnik is the top seed in her weapon. Biggest chance is probably Pustilnik.
  13. From what I can see looking at the latest update of the Olympic Ranking it doesn't seem that the continental qualification events counts towards the ranking. But I'm far from sure about this. Also, I'm not sure what events there are left if any to be honest for singles players. I have only read a bit that they would maybe do something for mixed doubles. But again not sure.
  14. "World Athletics Relays, 1-2 May 2021 The first eight (8) placed NOCs at the World Athletics Relays Silesia 2021 shall automatically qualify for the relay evens at the 2020 Olympic Games. In case an NOC already qualified through the World Athletics Championships Doha 2019, the remaining places will be allocated according to the World Athletics Top Performance Lists of 29 June 2021." https://olimpiyatkomitesi.org.tr/Tokyo2020_Branslar/Atletizm.pdf But having all these other relay events in these times is maybe a bit much. But yes it's really lowering the level without especially Jamaica and USA.
  15. The two winners of each semifinal, which are played tomorrow morning, will grab the first two spots. Every other player who has played in Stage 2 will then play against each other in a new knockout stage, Stage 3, over Saturday and Sunday. The two semifinal winners of Stage 3 will grab the third and fourth spot, and for the men there will be a 5th spot-playoff between the two losing semifinalists. The seeding for Stage 3 will be based on how far players came in Stage 2. You can see how the schedule is for Stage 3, which as mentioned, is played Saturday and Sunday: schedule_3_guimares (4).pdf
  16. He will have another chance to qualify in this tournament as all players who made Stage 2 (Knockout stage) will get another chance in Stage 3 (Repechage stage) to compete for the last 3 spots. Though his seeding will be worse as he lost early in Stage 2.
  17. According to the Guardian, the two supposed clubs are Chelsea and Man. City: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/apr/20/chelsea-and-manchester-city-have-super-league-doubts-says-executive As a long-time Liverpool fan I wish they hadn't engaged in this project, but I also know the owners are American and they are mostly familiar with the franchise-based closed-league structure, so it doesn't come as a surprise they want this system/league. Just like the owners of Man. Utd and Arsenal.
  18. Australian Championships, Sydney, April 18, 2021 Women's Long Jumo: Brooke Stratton (6.84) https://www.worldathletics.org/athletes/australia/brooke-stratton-14271241 Prueba de confrontacion de velocidad, La Habana, April 16, 2021 Women's 400m: Roxana Gómez (51.13) https://www.worldathletics.org/athletes/cuba/roxana-gomez-14637147 Another noticeable result came in women's high jump at the Australian championships when Nicola McDermott set a new Oceanian record with a jump of 2.00m. She is the first non-South African female high jumper from the Southern hemisphere to have cleared the 2.00m mark.
