Which begs the question... Why did Japan enter a women's kayak here??


K2 quota is not awarded in Asia, so they can't increase their numbers in any case. Moreover, earning a spot in K1 here would reallocate their host quota to a stronger athlete. It could make the difference between qualifying for the semifinals and taking an early exit this summer! So dumb.

:KOR wins men's K1-200 quota

 

:KAZ wins the women's K1-200 race but I think the quota goes to the runners-up :JPN ! in case there will be reallocation :SGP finished 3rd

 

surprisingly :THA wins the women's C1-200 quota !!!! it seems putting everybody else in jail (strict quarantine rules for non-Thai athletes) for 2 weeks worked well for the host finally.

GBR, not SGP. Host quotas in M K1 and W C1 got reallocated to the World Championships previously.
