LA28 Tickets, Trips & Experiences Road to LA 2028

Recommended Posts

@esube When your window opens up, obviously focus on what you need to do, but if you were able to capture some info (either screenshots or whatever), there are some events I'm curious about regarding prices.

(I've also seen on Reddit that some people have been able to see pricing 24 hours ahead of their timeslot somehow.)

CLB03 (Women's Boulder Semifinals) is the one that's top of my list. (So if you could only do one, that would be it)

Others that I have my eye on:

DIV09 (Diving Men's 10m Prelims)

VBV22 or 23 (Beach Volleyball morning/evening sessions)

BKB36 (Women's Basketball Semis - good chance of featuring Team USA, I think)

SWA03 or 04 (Artistic Swimming team Rounds 1 or 2)

SWM15 (Swimming heats)

ATH11 (Track and Field morning session)

BK310 (3x3 prelims)

SKB02 (Men's Street Skateboarding Prelims)

MPN01 or 02 (Modern Pentathlon Men or Women's Semifinal)

Any of the Volleyball prelims

Any of the Water Polo prelims

The email said we would get another message today with our link to the window, maybe that has a pricing preview.  Regardless, I will find your pricing info as best I can.  If they don't shut us out after we buy our 12 tickets then I can gather this up at my leisure, so no problem.

Well it's a dog-eat-dog world out there.  We got 2 tix for women's volleyball final, 2 for preliminary round of mens platform diving, and 4 for a beach volleyball preliminary session, 4 for mens basketball prelim doubleheader and  two for a prelim women's football match.  Opening ceremonies were sold out, as were gymnastics finals, and a lot more with only the very very expensive tix remaining.

Lots of bugs and glitches too.  Took three tries to get it right.

@clemsonbeav I will get to your pricing questions shortly.

For each event, there are two ways of answering the ticket price question.  There is the overall range of prices, and the tickets that are available now.  When your window opens, there may be more availability than what I am seeing now.  But availability also diminshed rapidly as I was making my purchases.  But FWIW, here are the overall ranges, bearing in mind that the bottom tiers are all sold out, at least for the time being.

Appreciate the insight so much! Happy for you that you got some good tickets. Fingers crossed on the 7th for a time slot!

The LA28 X account posted that events technically aren’t “sold out”. They just haven’t released the full batch of tickets for that event yet. So gymnastics/ceremony tickets could be available in future ticket drops.

Absolutely.  The person that we are pooling tickets with still hasn't heard anything about being in or out of the drops, so we are hopeful that we will have access to another drop and have some luck with the sports that we didn't get.  But you definitely have to move fast.

Though we are quite happy with the tickets we got, I would hate to admit how much we paid to get some of them.  The only opening ceremony tickets that were left by the time we got there (literally 2 minutes after the window opened) were $2600.  I love the Olympics but that was a little much.

Yeah I'm passing on the ceremonies. Don't think it's worth the money. I'll stick to the sports haha.

My window is on Sunday, which swimming sessions should i go for?

Based on what I've read, presale availability for LA residents is now sparse (at least for the cheap tickets). But that said, if you had your pick, the sessions I'd have my eye on would be the ones where Ledecky will be swimming (SWM07 25th a.m. 1500 Heats, SWM10 26th p.m. 1500 F, SWM15 29th a.m. 800 H, SWM17 30th p.m. 800 F)), simply to say you got to see her swim.

My second choice would be the M 100m free heats (SWM11 on the 27th a.m.) because there are so many nations that participate. Would be cool to say you saw athletes from so many pockets of the world.

But just depends on what you want (and/or what's available slash what you're willing/able to pay).

    • Basically, NOCs can attempt to qualify in additional events without gaining athlete quotas. For example, let's say a nation already qualified in the 4- and 4x, they can use the athletes they plan to send in those events and try to qualify in the 8+. That's where the extra coxswains will be used. If a nation intends to attempt to double-up they must let World Rowing know before the final qualifier regatta.   There's a good chance the quotas may not be used and will have to be reallocated. Looking at 2024, only  would have been eligible for the men while the women there's . With that said there's no guarantee they would have wanted to double-up their athletes.   In reality we are more likely to see the reverse, nations who qualified in the 4x, 4-, or 8+ doubling-up athletes for the 1x, 2x, 2-.
    • Hey everyone, how are you all?   Reading the qualification document here and the "3 quotas for additional coxswain" is very confusing to me. Can someone (try to) explain to me please how those quotas will be assigned?    Thank you so much

    • In a country as big as , the odds of Olympians being close to you are quite small; however, once I realized several months ago that even a state as small as mine hosts Olympians on occasion, I decided to scour each sport's calendar to make sure I caught them when they come around.  That led me to the middle of nowhere in my own state today, where there was a 4* Eventing competition, featuring a couple of Olympians and/or World Champion athletes.   Most all the athletes here were local or from USA, but there were a couple who compete for   or .  When we walked up, I had no idea what I was doing.  I thought I was in the right arena at the venue, but I didn't really see anyone there.  (There weren't any stands full of spectators, nor did I see any judges...it was time for dressage.). One of the ladies turned around and we struck up conversation.  Turns out I was in the right spot, and they were just on a short break.  She directed my attention to the upcoming athlete, Caroline Pamukcu.  Thanks to my research ahead of time, I knew she was on the Paris 2024 Eventing Team.  The lady we were talking with was the owner of the horse Caroline was riding.  After she finished with her dressage round, she got off the horse and was just standing there talking with her crew.  We went over and had a brief chat and one of the other ladies offered to take our picture.     I asked Caroline if she was aiming for LA28, and she said yes.  I've also since shown the girls and wifey the video from her Paris 2024 jumping competition.  Hope she makes the team this year!   (Caroline has a Gold Individual Eventing and Silver Team Eventing medal from the 2023 PanAms.  Boyd Martin from the Paris team was also there, himself having a WCh Silver and three gold PanAms.  Tamra Smith, who has a Silver from the 2022 WCh, was there as well.  Waylon Roberts, who represents  and has a PanAm Silver competed.  I saw a few more Dressage rounds, then watched them all do the Jumping.  Didn't get to see Cross-Country, but they'll have another similar event in October.)
