  • 2 weeks later...

German domination continues.  10 out of 12 medals.  Results in Post 2 if you want to take a look.  (They did two 4-Mans instead of one 2-Man and one 4-Man.)

Still only German flags in 2-Man.

In my opinion, the number of quotas for one country at the Olympics should be limited to two. Nothing negatively affects the perception of a given sport than a podium composed of athletes from one country... The same applies to sports where Norway dominates.

The problem with bobsleigh is the equipment being so uneven, not the number of quotas a country can get.

But Russia can beat the Germans at home in 2014. I wonder where they got their equipment? Did they use their own resources, or did they import them from abroad?

Germany didn't have that much of an equipment advantage in 2014, and the Russians had a big home track advantage in 2014 (just like Canada had back in 2010, Korea in 2018, China in 2022...)

Italy will, obviously, not get such an advantage given how late the track was built.

Luge was our best chance of some kind of advantage. In bobsleigh, our results have been surprisingly good for the past two years, but the last time we really mattered in this sport was in the late 1990s- In 1998, we had gold in the two-man event in Nagano.

    • (Men) withdrew from the qualifiers in Egypt due to the warning issued by the Department of State to US nationals in the middle east.    They had lost their first two games and were already eliminated anyway.
    • In yesterday matches, ,  and  qualified to the final tournament. Big surprise as Antigua and Barbuda defeated the Dominicans, and  defeated El Salvador 2-0 but they needed to win for atleast 3 goals so they are out. Big shoutout to Antigua and Barbuda and Jamaica who ended the group without receiving any goal.    In today's matches,  defeated  3-0 so they become the 10th team to enter the final tournament. In a couple of hours, we will have the final teams.    plays , both have 9 points but the goal difference is in favor of Haiti who is 14-0 (Curazao is 12-2). A draw benefits Haiti.   In the other match,  qualification is almost locked. Canada have 9 points and a 24-0 goal difference, and plays  who is runner-up with 6 points and 11-5 GD. This means, the only way for Nicaragua to qualify is to win by 10 goals or more.
