I think Katelyn Fung finished 4th in the 10m platform. Despite it being off the podium she wasn’t on my radar and hopefully is a confidence boost going forward.

Fifth again in the relay for the women. Great swim by all four of them as well. 3:55.63

With her gold medal in the 400m IM, Summer McIntosh now ranks 7th on the all-time World Championship individual medal rankings. Only :USA Katie Ledecky, :USA Michael Phelps, :SWE Sarah Sjoestroem, :CHN Sun Yang :thumbdown:, :USA Ryan Lochte, and :HUN Katinka Hosszu are ranked ahead of her.

 

This was her 8th career gold medal. That now ties her with :USA Caeleb Dressel.

 

This was her 11th career individual medal which is 10th most among all swimmers in history. Along with the names mentioned in the first paragraph, only :RUS Yuliya Efimova, :AUS Grant Hackett, and :HUN Laszlo Cseh remain ahead of her.

 

She becomes the 9th swimmer to win 3 individual gold medals in multiple events. The others are :USA Aaron Peirsol, :GBR Adam Peaty, :USA Katie Ledecky, :HUN Katinka Hosszu, :FRA Leon Marchand, :USA Michael Phelps, :USA Ryan Lochte, :SWE Sarah Sjoestroem, :CHN Sun Yang. Marchand also accomplished that feat in the same session.

 

She becomes the 5th swimmer and the non-American to win 4 individual gold medals in a World Championships. The others are :USA Caeleb Dressel, :USA Katie Ledecky, :USA Michael Phelps, and :USA Ryan Lochte.

 

She becomes the 3rd swimmer after :USA Michael Phelps and :SWE Sarah Sjoestroem to win 5 individual medals at a World Championships.

 

Overall, this was the 2nd greatest meet a swimmer has ever had after Phelps in 2007. A meet for the history books for Summer McIntosh.
