Dear lord allmighty !!!

I see We lost to Malta. and it was not even a close score

oh my dear... once we were even at the Olympics ffs. nothing works in this country, nothing

I remember that time – 1999/2000. In that time, even Italy sometimes had minor difficulties with Slovakia, but it was a completely different sport, a different time than now. In 1996, Ukraine also played at the Olympic Games in Atlanta... They suffered an even greater decline than Slovakia in this sport. Where did Slovakia's good conditions come from around 2000? Was there better funding for this sport?

No idea. Maybe yes, or it was Still the generation Raised in communist era, where kids used to do sport more than today overall. Times were different, Also competition was lower than today.

All in All, waterpolo is almost nonexistant and have minimum air time or fanbase that it is impossible to find any information about in our medias

You're close to Hungary, so if you have good players, you could send them to play there. Does the Slovak women's national team even exist?

I personally don't really like watch water polo so much... I think the referees have a huge influence on the final result- probably even greater than in handball. Besides, they're constantly making some radical changes- the last one in early 2025. It doesn't seem serious. Sometimes changes are necessary over the years, but nothing radical.

To be fair, :MLT has been active in men's water polo for about a decade. I've been using them as a barometer for whether a European nation is relevant.

I'd love to see them face non-European nations some time to see how they'd stack up.

Germany also fell hard in this discipline, the same thing happened to Russia - in 2022 they were much weaker than before. Romania – similar levels for years. France – strong growth until 2024, and now a decline again. Georgia – growth, but a large number of naturalized people from the Balkans play there. Generally, I see Georgia has been naturalizing a lot in various sports lately: water polo, figure skating, etc. Could that local regime there be spending much more money to further promote the country through sports?

    • Khm, do we know the fate of the  license in pairs? I did not see confirmation of their entry.   If they fail  must get full license (team + individual) and one more place for team event will be available, am I correct?
    • Honestly, we did not expect more than 8. 2 additional places happened just becaues your double could not grab it due to the injury(?).
    • Vivat Slovakia    But in all seriousness, it's been repeatedly stated how important it is to qualify in a team event for the next Summer Olympics. However, I have no idea if we even have a realistic chance.   We only have one fewer individual athlete competing this year than we did in Paris, so individual quota spots aren't the main issue. Where can we find a competitive team, like we do in hockey? Maybe the women's handball team could start something big, but that's still far in the future, very likely unachievable in just two years.   And to be clear, as horrific as our medal tally from Paris looked, those were some of the unluckiest Olympics for Slovakia I have ever seen. Finishing in the top six seven times (!) is absolutely insane.

    • I really hope Nordic Combined doesn't get scrapped. Actually, I believe the Winter Olympics should keep growing with new sports and disciplines (3x3 Hockey, Ice Cross, Speed Skiing, Ice Climbing), otherwise they won't feel like a true celebration of sports like their summer counterpart.
    • In fact, well, no. Hockey is extremely physically demanding, I even think it is the most physically demanding winter sport of all. I mean keeping more than a minute on ice is just cardiac. The shifts are there for a reason.   25 players rosters are absolutely justified. You must have 4 lines to keep the stamina the whole game.   Hard to persuade people who never watched hockey though, I can understand your point, but sadly, the point is wrong
    • Stats are ok, but the time she losts on the range every time... My point was that she is more likely to make us losing the olympic relay than to make us winning it.
