The only thing I regret is that the Italian federation will say everything is fine and sweep the dust under the carpet....

I rather fear that they would eventually talk of "great success", "mission accomplished"...announcing the world with triumphant tone "we're back in the hockey elite" :bones:

:ITA Promoted ! No surprise in the 2nd match of the day,

Italia did the job clean and are back in the elite after 3 years of absence.

Congrats :ITA and welcome back

This means also that Poland is already officially eliminated from the promotion race and the last ticket will be played between :UKR and :GBR  in the last GBR vs POL game

If GBR earn at least 1 point (Regulation Time win, Overtime/PSO win or OT/PSO loss) :GBR will advance to the Top division alongside Italy.

If POL win the match in Regulation Time, this will mean a 3 teams tie and miraculous redemption promotion for :UKR , because of H2H results:

1. UKR : vs GBR 3-4 PSO, vs POL 4-1  -  resulting in 4 points

2. POL : vs UKR 1-4, vs GBR RT win  -  resulting in 3 points

3. GBR : vs UKR 4-3 PSO, vs POL RT Loss -  resulting in 2 points

Without solid reinforcements from the NHL - at least 2-3 forwards + 1 experienced goalie, I see it very poorly.

We were better than Ukraine and Poland, so it's better that we advanced than they did but match vs the UK was a disgrace. I read that Jalonen wants 3-4 players from the NHL in next year and the IIHF is supposed to agree to that without waiting 16 months.

Ukrainians demonstrated an absolute textbook way of fucking up everything you build a whole week

ongrats to Japan to play the best match of the last 2 decades right today when thay played for absolutely nothing

They also played very well against UK and could have won for 3 points. Japan is always a difficult opponent at this level, i.e. not the highest, because of course Slovakia would beat them playing at 50%.
