many :ITA swimmers, including Gregorio Paltrinieri, have been DSQ for illegal rounding of a buoy (I wonder why so many and only the Italians? :mumble:)

Tomorrow, instead of the traditional mixed relay, a completely new individual race format will be on stage: the socalled 3km knockout sprint, where 3 rounds (heats, semifinals and finals) will be contested to crown the winner

 

I'm very curious to see what happens, even if this kind of competition imho is completely against the spirit of long distance open water swimming :mumble:

 

in other words, bring back the good old 25km races instead of these new fuckin' stupid formats!!! :bones:

I can confirm that at 100%

 

maybe a long (at least 5km) elimination race might be better, but this thing has nothing to do with traditional endurance open water swimming

 

designed for good 400/800m specialists in the pool, it doesn't add anything for the actual open water specialists

    • Honestly, I don't really like these team sports that only have 6 teams. I understand there's a limit on the number of athletes, but it should be at least 8 per gender.
