Expand She was at her peak in February at the World Championships in Doha. If she had swim like that in Paris, she would have won bronze. She's a good swimmer but to win medals at the Olympics, as you can see, you need something more - like peak form at a key moment. Because let's not kid ourselves, but swimming in a short pool in the winter is more fun. Josh 11,046 Posted October 31, 2024 #24 Share Posted October 31, 2024 (edited) A monster 2:12.72 for Douglass in the women’s 200m breaststroke, holy crap Broke the previous WR mark that she held by almost a second and a half, and she’s now almost two seconds faster than the next fastest all-time performer, Rebecca Soni (2:14.56) Edited November 2, 2024 by Josh maestro 1 Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/28577-swimming-wa-world-cup-2024/page/3/#findComment-675905 Share on other sites
TeamGB 187 Posted October 31, 2024 #25 Share Posted October 31, 2024 Some other fast swims today include a new commonwealth record by Duncan Scott in the 400m free and a European record in the 100m IM by Marchand. Watch out for some quick swims in the 200m free and 200m IM later on. Josh 11,046 Posted November 2, 2024 #26 Share Posted November 2, 2024 (edited) Another two WR’s so far in Singapore, and Marchand’s is arguably the most impressive ones of the entire Series (alongside Douglass’s recent one probably) Leon Marchand smoked Ryan Lochte’s WR (1:49.63) in the men’s 200m individual medley, becoming the first man to swim under 1:49 at 1:48.88. Noe Ponti went 21.50 in the men’s 50m butterfly, undercutting his previous WR mark of 21.67 from Shanghai. dullard 721 Posted November 2, 2024 #27 Share Posted November 2, 2024 Quite an impressive World Cup series with numerous world records. Sets the stage for what could be the fastest short course worlds in history even with Australia sending a half-assed team.
